Typical beuracratical healthcare b.s. BEWARE OF DOUBLE BILLING, have been double billed, over billed, charged for services not received, can't stand dealing with these crooked sobees.
Crooked implies a clear intent to steal. I just think it's incompetence due to the incredible level of complexity in medical billing.

I honestly think the paperwork for getting a satellite into space is less than this. (I have experience with the former only)

Why should I need any paperwork to put my satellite into space? What, does the U.S. government own and license space now?

    Sorry.

Hope you get it all straightened out, L.

Geez! Just when I thought there could be nothing else to fear. ATM's own 'Electric Eye':

    "Up here in space
    I'm looking down on you
    My lasers trace
    Everything you do

    You think you've private lives
    Think nothing of the kind
    There is no true escape
    I'm watching all the time

    I'm made of metal
    My circuits gleam
    I am perpetual
    I keep the country clean

    I'm elected electric spy
    I'm protected electric eye...."
    --Judas Priest

    I too am sorry!

I'll reply as if you were serious (though I know better).

I honestly don't know about launching your own nanosat. There's probably issues around the rocket.

Now if you want the DoD or NOAA or other alphabet to pay for it, there's paperwork.

So I just got off the phone with the attorney's office and the only thing they have is the "patient number" for me. I'll tool out to Lutheran tomorrow or Friday to sit down, again, and go over what is and is not being paid on.

Then I'll find out if I owe an additional $2,000 or not...

Whatever it is, I'm sure you plan to but get all the details of who did what when and why. When I daughter was born, we had all the billing arrangements done when another bill came in from the hospital for $1500ish. Didn't think much of it at the time due to the volume of bills/paperwork and exhaustion but when going through paperwork for taxes that year (almost a year later) noticed it was for nursery care, thinking back, we spend 3 days/2 nights in the hospital. Daughter was with us every minute except about 2-3 hours the last day so we could get a little sleep before going home. If I'd realized it at the time I'd have told them to suck it, she didn't even need a diaper or feeding since she wasn't even in there long enough! $1500 for 2-3 hrs in the nursery with neither attention nor care required.

Thanks! I am still doing research and need to gather data and crunch numbers.

However, I may have come to a stumbling block and may(?) need real legal advice relating to health insurance and the ACA.

I will be posting in a separate thread regarding this need.

    It gets better and better...

. It was like this before Obamacare and it hasn't improved.

I agree. It became like this (and worse) the further we separate the consumer from the person or company actually paying for the services. Most of the insurance costs are paid by companies, hence the consumer doesn't make many direct choices. And now the insurer gets more money by force, so it's worse than ever.

Even if you do owe, offer to pay a lesser amount as a one-time pay and they will most likely agree.

I hope this is over for you soon, and that the hand is functioning well.

So here is what happened. When I went to all of my healthcare providers that were on a payment plan and confirmed I didn't owe anything else, well... apparently my therapy department was in the process of changing their billing system so the guy out at Lutheran honestly didn't see it there. This is what I think happened. So when the initial collections calls came in I told them to go pound sand because I knew I was making payments to everyone when in reality one had fallen through the cracks.

I met with my attorney a few weeks ago and we have negotiated a one (1) time, lump sum payment that will knock several hundred dollars off of the original bill. It is still going to hurt but I believe I may have worked out a solution that will fit into my budget.

I think the pain and stress of dealing with being sued, making payments, having a large deductible are nearly equal to the initial discomfort of being shot. I know my doctor gave great service (
I have to suck up a little as he will be reading this ;)) and all of the service by the providers was great, it is the "collateral" issues that are unnecessarily created by the health care SYSTEM!

So as it looks now I will finally have all bills on a payment plan and hope to have the first one paid off early next year. As I look at my budget the second lowest one probably in a little more than a year. After that they will go quickly.

I am just thankful for my attorney whom I believe was probably able to get me the best deal I could get.

    Regards and Happy Thanksgiving,

    Doug

OUCH!! Glad you're ok! What caliber was it?

It was the standard issue caliber of the CZ-82 pistol - 9x18mm Makarov.

I hope this helps in your great quest to 50, although I believe the Lords of Moderation are somewhat picky on this matter.

    Regards and Merry Christmas,

    Doug

Slight bump since last post was before I joined.

    Doug,

I'm sorry you had to suffer through this, but very glad you shared. Went to the range with my wife recently, and could have easily made a similar mistake as she is a bit gun-shy.

I do hope your recovery continues to go well, and I am curious, did your goddaughter ever make it bake to the range with you?

Well, she made it to our NWI Family Day at Winimac, where I had the pleasure of being an instructor on the 25 yard range.
