NBC said that was a most divisive speech and an insult to the previous presidents and the congressmen up on the stage...well maybe if they'd not done much of the stuff they had, he wouldn't be here today saying what he said.

    Trump:

    1. Power from DC to you.
    2. Government will build everything, interfere in trade, guarantee you a job.

These cannot both be true... but hey, a lot of the speech was rhetorical. His most loyal view him as an extension of themselves. The level of connection between Trump and his base is Obamian, to describe it accurately.

Should be an interesting four years.

Obama's speech in 2013, I thought, was one of the most progressively liberal, divisive speeches ever given in my lifetime. I've heard them all since Ford.

Mmmmm - that's a close one. You're talking about his Brandenburg speech? His 2008 version comes to my mind as the most divisive, but I'll concede it is a close call.

Depending how serious Trump is, we still have a divided government in Washington. Populism and GOP ideals clash in many ways. Curious to see how far both will work together, and where the party will push back.

Yeah that reaching across the aisle and working together stuff never made sense to me. Why would I want to work with people actively tearing down the republic?
