Venezuelan gov't just seized all of GM's assets in that country - all vehicles, offices, etc. were illegally taken by this socialist scum. Wonder if Trump will do anything about it considering that GM is an American company? I know Exxon fought a similar battle in the courts for years - not sure whatever happened with that.

ETA: Not going to do the Venezuelans much good since GM immediately halted operations there. All (or most) of the parts to assemble the vehicles are shipped to the assembly plant(s) from somewhere else. No parts = useless building(s).

One other thing I just remembered was having to pay to leave the country.
The fee varied from airport to airport, it changed daily and it had to be in cash (Ven B's).
I remember the individual that was acting as our guide askes us if we would leave our US $ behind with him to use.
He was trying to get his family out of the country and needed all the $ he could get.
Apparently US $ worked much better than their own $.
He paid us back a few weeks later when he visited our company, but the whole idea was awakening to say the least.
Hope he got out of there, it sure sounds like it is going to get worse.

The Official Socialist Party of Great Britain wants you to know that Venezuela isn't Socialist... it's Capitalist. That's why it's failing.

In the Marxist sense, they aren't socialist. Communist probably is more accurate.

But, the UK Socialist Party isn't really socialist, either, probably.

True to form...they keep disavowing all the failed attempts while promising if only they'd do it the right way, life would be a dream.

Marxist "socialism" is a prediction of human nature. While "First World" countries are evolving in the direction Marx predicted (wealth redistribution, etc.) it is difficult to imagine society getting to the unselfish point necessary to actually move from a central government to no government.
