And yet there are people who can't understand why Salon, and Socialism in general, isn't taken seriously

Hugo nationalized the oil industry, and then proved that the size of a fortune taken over by a dumbass matters little aside from the specific length of time required for him to exhaust it.

Correct. And the socialist nations of Europe are headed in the same direction - the time component and rate of descent being the key difference.

Got 2 of 3 with the other component being the relative prosperity/modernity before the socialist layer is applied. A prime example is Sweden which is everyone's poster child for "successful socialism", but is premised on being very prosperous before they went socialist.

Absolutely correct, but I was lumping that in under "size of the fortune taken over" that IndyDave was referring to. But yes, I can also see how ingrained work ethic/relative prosperity/modernity can be considered as separate and thus affects the time component and rate of descent in a different but similar fashion.

The rapid influx of people from the Middle East, not nearly as prosperous or modern as native Europeans, into Switzerland has clearly hastened their troubles as the welfare system becomes bogged down.

Don't know why supporters need more guns...
They had Guardia Nacional stations about every 3 blocks with APC sitting at the gates of each.
When I got off the plane, we were surrounded by at least 20 Guardia Nacionals fully armed with sidearms & FALs.
Even on the main highway, there were guardposts about every 20 km or so.
Everyplace I went had armed guards all over the place.
We even had an armed guard in the plant we were visiting to keep the workers from stealing our stuff.
The hotel had armed guards all over the place.
One resteraunt even had an armed guard.
Was told that the weapon of preference down there was the machete.
    Easy to get and use.
