    I have been called up 2 times in my entire life.
    Not picked for either jury.
    Might be my winning demeanor.

    Or the fact you come of age during the last ice age....

    "How did you and your first wife get together sir?"

    "Well sir I saw her tanning hide out in front of her family's cave....I just grabbed her by the hair and drug her home with me..."

    It would be for me.

    On my last notice, I wrote a comment expressing my resentment at (potentially) being forced against my will to enter a place that would bar my entry with the gear I normally carry.

    Well there is that
    I wasn't happy about it
    Took my cane and a good pen
    Better than nothing

    So what penalties might one face if they refused to comply with a jury duty notice?

    Depends on your county. This is from the indy.gov website:

    8. What if I just don't show up?

    • A person who fails to respond to a summons may be ordered by the Court to immediately appear and show cause for the person's failure to comply with the summons.
    • If the person fails to show good cause for noncompliance with the summons, the person is guilty of criminal contempt and upon conviction may be fined:
      • not more than one hundred dollars ($100)
      • or imprisoned in the county jail for not more than three (3) days,
      • or both.

    I give enough of my free time to court...I'll admit that I ignore my jury duty notices.

    How does one manage that feat of strength?

    Perk of the job I suppose. I got a jury summons a while back and when I showed up I was recognized by court staff as being an Officer and they directed me to the jury pool office where I was put on the "civil only" list.

    same here i received a summons a couple weeks after i was hired, perfect timing right. I was really interested in seeing how a criminal trial works as i haven't seen one. My dad must be a court favorite or something it seems like every time he is eligible to be called he is.

    The robot they used in Dallas to turn the cop killer into hamburger helper was awesome. Truly inspiring

    Yes. Absolutely. Under the circumstances (bad guy still firing at officers so there was no chance he wasnt guilty) I agree. That expensive robot was a fraction of the cost to feed and house him for the rest of his life.

    Yesterday I responded to a shooting where ol' dude was hit at least 5 times, high center mass, with a 9mm from near contact distance. Didn't even need surgery, nothing vital hit, and he's gonna be fine.

    My money is somebody was carrying ball ammo?

    Wife got her summons while we were on vacation. She swears she had to go last year. It was probably 2 or so ago. I could probably dig backwards in my calendar to find the carve out for me to stay home to watch the kids.

    I havent been summoned in over a decade.

    How does one manage that feat of strength?

    RULE 5. DISQUALIFICATION
    The court shall determine if the prospective jurors are qualified to serve, or, if disabled but otherwise qualified, could serve with reasonable accommodation. In order to serve as a juror, a person shall state under oath or affirmation that he or she is:
    (a) a citizen of the United States;
    (b) at least eighteen (18) years of age;
    (c) a resident of the summoning county;
    (d) able to read, speak, and understand, the English language;
    (e) not suffering from a physical or mental disability that prevents him or her from rendering satisfactory jury service;
    (f) not under a guardianship appointment because of mental incapacity;
    (g) not a person who has had rights to vote revoked by reason of a felony conviction and whose rights to vote have not been restored; and
    (h) not a law enforcement officer, if the trial is for a criminal case.

    If an LEO gets called, it's a waste of everyone's time as you can't sit on the jury for a criminal case.
