Placenta for dinner: trendy goofiness or modern day cannibalism?

So... if you feed your placenta to your family, is that cannibalism? Or is it OK since it's a shed piece of the body? If I lose my leg in an accident can I eat it and not be a cannibal?

Neither. It has been practiced for a long time. I could see how it could have been practical in times when nutrition was hars to come by, although I’d rather take an extra multivitamin today. I definitely don’t see it as cannibalism, though.

Just my opinion, but the difference is that the placenta is naturally shed by the body, unlike your amputated leg.
