    Hey everyone,

I am new to Indianapolis; recently lived in Chicagoland.
In IL, I had a pretty awesome range I was a member of. You'd rent out your own private bay, and be able to train however you wanted. Set-up and run pistol courses, draw from holster, fire at whatever rate you wanted, had a 180 degree firing window (versus being able to only shoot straight forward in a lane), and more. It's one drawback was how short the bays were. Wasn't too practical for rifle training, but was the best range for pistol training I have ever been to.

It doesn't seem like there's an indoor range with the same capabilities, and i'm okay with that. But what outdoor range around Indianapolis has the most flexibility?

Also, I have recently picked up some NODs and an IR Laser, and would like to begin training in that regard as well. Any place which could help facilitate that?

Thanks for the info and recommendations.

Only time you'll be able to get that type of range clearance is at a class somewhere. Most ranges here are "lane ranges" or stall type. There's a couple of outdoor ranges like an 1hr outside of Indy. They hold rifle and pistol classes as well. look up the tactics and training section on the forum and see what classes interest you.

Proteq out in Brazil, IN. Its right about an hour out of the city from the Airport. Don is a great host, an awesome instructor if you choose his training, and his facility is top notch. And very affordable.

Come out and check it out next month. Its free during this open house. And meet some of your fellow INGOers while you are there!

The type of range you are asking about does not exist close to Indy. There is a need, and market for it but it does not exist.

Riley Conservation Club would be a great option for what you are looking for, however, it's about an hour or a little further from Indy (east side of Terre Haute). The only thing it could not facilitate is night shooting. Hopefully someone can help you out with a closer option but as Coach said, it does not appear that there is a good option in the Indy area but there is a need and market.

Don is a great guy and great firearms instructor. His range is a great place to get better with a gun.

Though after re-reading your post, if you REALLY want bays with 180 for wider array of shots, your best bets are either Riley or Atlanta CC (north of Noblesville). Don doesnt have any serious bays capable of that. I think his long term plan however will have.

Moving from Texas soon, looking for same. Current range has 30 by 30 yard tactical bays you get all to yourself with big boy rules and a 1000 yard rifle range.

(yes I know I've been spoiled)

As others have mentioned, there are outdoor ranges that allow you significant freedom and typically you can get a bay to yourself most of the time. None of them are public and all of them require membership. The closest to Indianapolis is Atlanta Conservation Club. Riley Conservation Club is near Terre Haute, but in addition to 7 pistols bays of various sizes, there is also a 240 yard rifle range. Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol Club near Brookston also has multiple bays. One is 100+ yards and they have a 300 yard rifle range as well.

Technically, you could sort of do that in the far west bay. I'm sure with his son back full time now (and tax season being over) that several improvements will happen this year.
