    Outside the coup
One weekend a few years ago I was browsing armslist, drunk after a kegger. Went to throw up and while I was gone the cat walked across the keyboard opening a bookmark for INGO. I didn't notice it when I came back, and that's when it happened. I clicked a link and the 50 post rule touched me in a bad way, right in the hippocampus. I caught black rifle disease as a result, now anytime I see a firearm I don't already own I have a problem with my frontpole.

How long did you let it keep touching you before you made it quit :):

I donated twice the amount necessary to be a supporter, and visited classifieds maybe twice; never found anything shiny that I needed. My question is; why aren't many of the regular posters on INGO site supporters? Maybe their ought to be a rule that if you want to participate, you have to be a supporter. Is there anybody here who can't afford the $20 ? I'm not a rich guy, but if you're that hard up, let me know, I might be able to help pay your fair share.

I hit my 11th or 12th post when they transitioned to the 50 post requirement. I *****ed about it just like many before and after me *****ed about it. The site supporter option was hung out there as a way to bypass the post requirement. Back then at least being a site supporter allowed you to join the "Kool Kid's Klub". This wasn't anything formal but there was a group that had a distinct snobbish air about them that if you weren't a site supporter you weren't worth a ****. Having never been a crowd runner I gladly refused to become just another KKK member. If you want to donate another $20 bucks in my name feel free but don't put site supporter under my name.

I believe it was Groucho Marx that said he wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have him as a member!

Not the first time that I have read this on this site, from several different persons. Yes, there is some money involved for the owners of a site of this kind, my bet is that there is a handsome return. I would like to see the financials.

Get ready for the dog pile! I made the same observation many moons ago and man did they pile on! I even suggested that the founder was only in it for the money and man did they pile on!

Interestingly enough I looked at the originators profile several months ago and he hasn't been on the site since he sold it to start a new site. hmmm.

Oh and the financials aren't any of our business, it's a privately owned site. I don't have a problem with that.

If you are talking about F-way. I never got the impression he wanted to actually hang with any of us here. I met him up at that INGO event in Bluffton (21st Century Firearms, I think it was). He seemed like a nice young man, but didn't really come across as a gun guy.

He was defended almost violently to me as being God's gift to the gun world! That was an interesting conversation:rockwoot:

I told a friend of mine about this forum, and he asked about the 50 post rule, I told him they want people to engage, and enjoy this forum. I love this place, and am grateful to be back, I recently noticed a long time member who only had 100 posts, they obviously don't get the forum, I couldn't imagine not participating in the threads, and checking the marketplace every day......

    1. Not being educated in the ways of online forums, except my car club of nearly a decade, I thought it odd that I had to go to Armslist and another site or two I don't even remember anymore to buy guns early on, but someone had mercy on me and told me about the $20 membership option, and I would have done it right up front. I would have even bought a Lifetime membership if that was available.
    2. My car club had a $35 yearly fee, and I just bought a lifetime membership for $250, I think: a no-brainer since I keep my cars longer than guns.
    3. You could not start a thread, but could read threads, and since you could not respond to a thread, you couldn't buy anything.

He had a very devoted circle of mods and "enforcers" around him.

    Ya-think.........:):

Mike is an interesting individual. He is a seriously busy man with a young family and a very demanding job. His time is really not his own. He did put this place together and listened to his staff. And yes, we would stand with him regardless.
He stops in on occasion to check on us.

I agree you don't want to hurt long standing members.

If your member stands longer than 4 hours please seek medical attention.
