Look, I am schooling the drooling Aspies here. You return to your bacon sandwich.

Between this and your autism references and your drawled-out spelling of “my rights” which portrays gun owners as a bunch of knuckle-dragging idiots this just ain’t cool man.

Meaningful messagees don’t need theatrics (or insults) to get the point across. If you wish to be taken seriously start acting like it.

Regardless, you've just admitted that's why you're here.

I prefer to talk to folks I'll potentially meet and discuss issues that actually affect me (as with state legislation, where I doubt we see you posting)

But to each his own. While I wouldn't sell out of state, I don't care that you're here. As I said, usually a self-correcting problem.

Okay, I garbled my message a lot.

That was specific to the one guy who's admitted he is only really here to buy things.

Y'all are right. I painted with way too broad a brush and I didn't actually intend to.

    Mea culpa.

No, but saving lives does apparently.

Look, I know everyone wants to get a lip on and pout, but break out of that safe space and learn a lesson. Guns are dangerous. We need to study, not hold our breath and kick and pretend bad things do not happen and revel in ignorance

Could care less about your feelings, I care about your life. There is nothing wrong with calling out Gun Aspies as if I do not others might believe their twaddle and get hurt.

You mean couldn’t care less about my feelings, right? How do you successfully argue cases when your signal to noise ratio is so low?

You tell me, here, I was right on target.:D

And I do not care, whatsoever, about your feelings, I only care about your life. Once we learn how firearms work and learn how to master them and we will all be safer.

As part of that mastery, be advised, cartridges can stick to bolts. It is a quirk (trigger word) of the AK and the color of the AK cartridge that the round is hard to see on the bolt face from the top side. Look front, look back. Better yet feel as well.

Pout and stamp your feet all you want, I simply ask you to learn. Once we learn, we will have a more educated and thus safer gun culture.

This will take work. People will fight me at every single turn. I understand. I am a hard teacher, I do not expect adulation, but I do expect learning.

    Kirk,

We’ve hung out together at the Purdue PD on-campus town hall meeting, trolling the Crawfordsville church-sponsored gun “buyback” at the PD, other occasions I’m sure (which reminds me churchmouse owes us cheeseburgers because he thought that one wouldn’t end well and it did). I still need to publish the video of the guy from the church calling me a horses ass when I asked him if he was sure he didn’t want my 30 round magazines, LOL. Priceless.

I don’t disagree with your message, not at all. I only disagree with the manner in which you deliver it. I honestly think you would be more effective by dialing the drama and condescension back a bit and just presenting the facts. I don’t pout and stamp, nor are my feelings hurt, nor do I fight you at every turn. I just choose to conduct myself differently than you do.

That having been said, carry on... INGO is a better place with you here. With rare exception, we all have something valuable to contribute.

I object to having my thoughts controlled.

You'll note that the manner in which I delivered this safety warning was very safe spacey, rainbows and puppy dogs and all the things you approve of. I even said thank you for reading.

And then . . . the Gun Aspies came out, as they always do. I won't tolerate them endangering others so they can wave their ignorance all over INGO and make the gun culture look like fools. I do not care about anyone's feelings, these are guns, they are dangerous, I care about saving lives. I have seen the .30RS through the 5 year old's head because of "meye ryeeeets!" I don't want to see it, read about it, or hear about it again.

Allow me to repeat: A quirk of the AK is that sometimes individuals can miss cartridges stuck to the bolt face as when looking down and not rolling it over to 90 degrees, the dull-colored cartridge case and the length of the receiver will mask the presence of the cartridge. Thus when you let go of the bolt you will re-load the weapon. It is best to look forward to the breech, and then look back at the bolt, use fingers when possible.

Toward a safer, more educated, more responsible gun culture.

Look through the thread and you'll find that I, too, agree with the underlying safety message.

Using disabilities as insults isn't going to get anyone to back you. At best, you'll simply get a sympathetic nod from from folks who are likely part of the "meye reights" crowd.

Yes, you have the freedom to say what you want. So we have the freedom to respond. It takes away from the message and does not help you, students, or INGO- that is my personal opinion.

Thing about autism becoming far more widespread is it affects soooo many people nowadays. And those that I've met- friends, patients- are far from being stupid.

As far as the education, that is appreciated.

So you are telling us all that all guns are always loaded (or to “treat” them as though) while at the same time telling us how to make sure one particular gun is not. Seeing a five-year-old die from a gunshot wound to the head must’ve been horribly traumatic, I’m not sure how that would change me. But I do know I would be a different person afterwards. If only that person had kept the gun pointed in a safe direction regardless of whether “knowing” or “thinking” it was loaded or not...

He did think it was a safe direction. The bullet penetrated the sheet rock and canoe'd her head. That is why he was screaming about his rights when they hauled him out.

I know you want to fight me over the Four Rules, it is a given. I bring up safety, I get in a fight. Got it. I accept that reality that people want to fight over safety rules. However, this is not this fight.

We clear guns as a range rule so people don't get shot by cook offs while taping targets or the like. Did you watch the Uzi Gal video? Did you see the rounds from the M16A1 cooking off?

This thread is merely a heads up for those that encounter AK platforms about a potential problem. You can yell at me about the probability of this transpiring.

People may "be around guns all my life" and not see it. Got it, it is rare, maybe a black swan, but it does happen. This is why we strive to educate ourselves.

However, you cannot yell at me for bringing this potential harm up, about being hard on safety, or about this warning harming the larger gun culture.

Nobody is yelling at you here. When going down range to check targets a simple chamber flag ensures the chamber is unloaded.
