Isn't there a Wilson Combat in the ~$1500 range in the classifieds here?

    That would be my choice.

    Not far from the tree
well, when I take my jacket off, it will be open carried. Under the jacket it will be "concealed" but it will be OWB.

Nah. I jokingly told her "you got your ring, where is mine?" She said "you get your ring at the wedding". I laughed and said "well, you get another at the wedding. That isn't fair." So she said "you can have a new gun." I replied "a new BBQ gun that I am carrying at the wedding." She said no, I said, "it will be under the jacket during the wedding" and she agreed. There was very little negotiation. We are both level headed and she understands why I carry. She asked that I not carry during the wedding, because I open carry and she was afraid it would look hillbilly in the pictures. I compromised that it would stay under the jacket during the wedding and most pictures. We are both willing to bend and come to agreements. It was not a "you got yours, now I want mine" deal. It started as a joke and she was agreeable. I haven't gotten a new gun in two or three years, so it isn't like I'm blowing money and looking for reasons for a new gun.

Well alrighty, then. I'll stop worrying.:yesway:

You got it all wrong brother. It's a setup. She's testing you.

Guns get sold when you get married. Along with fishing stuff, hot rods, boats, dirt bikes....

Anything you may have stashed away after initial marriage sale off gets sold after impregnating.

Don't worry you won't have time to use those things anymore. You buy that pistol and you'll quickly be reminded of it at each argument.

He's right, you know. You'll be working overtime, no money to show for it. You have to watch all her programs. Not to mention the big yard you have to mow. And she'll fatten you up so other women won't look at you.

    But there'll be samiches.:):

Dunno, we (my wife and I) both bought guns after the wedding using funds we got as wedding gifts.

    Congrats on the wedding!

Damn, I didn't know there were supposed to be samiches... 26 years in and I missed out on the samiches. I got everything else you mentioned covered though, so there is that.

Psh. She fishes more than me. We are actually headed fishing now. As for the kids and guns. I already have two kids from a previously relationship and the last gun I bought was the Glock 43 when it first came out.

I'll skip the marriage advice and just wish you the best in the years to come. If your relationship is open, equal and giving with an us first, me second attitude - you will be fine. Crap, I didn't skip the marriage advice.

BBQ gun...but you really need to go with a double shoulder rig....

Every one of my guns was purchased after my wedding.

And I didn't even lose any of them in the divorce.

Need some opinions. Convinced the fiancee, since she is getting two rings (engagement and wedding band), and I am only getting a wedding band, I deserve a new handgun.
Wow. I surprised that Jedi Mind Trick work!

She has agreed to the stipulation that I can buy a handgun and open carry during the wedding underneath the tux jacket. Any opinions on what I should get?
Remind me how it's OC if it's covered up?

I was something nice and I'm leaning towards a 1911 and making it a bbq gun, however if I do get a 1911, I don't want a low end 1911, like RIA, but something mid-grade like SA or SIG. Throw out some opinions. I'm not looking to spend more than her engagement ring for the handgun and holster setup, which was $1700, but would prefer to keep it under $1000.
Should have plenty of options. Since I'm not a 1911 guy (yet), I can't add anything.

Negotiating with the bride to be sounds like bad policy. She will shortly hold all the cards and may be vindictive about it.

Talking to her about spending "our" money is a good idea. You do have to listen when she speaks however.
Looking at marriage as a "you got yours, now I get mine " transaction will not make for a happy, or long marriage. And it goes for both of you.
This sounds like advice from someone who was married.

EDIT: looks like I'm late to this party.

I have a problem. I look at that and instead of appreciating the aesthetics, my brain is all "gotta add a new beavertail, sights, thin grips, magwell, and thumb safety before I could really use that thing properly."

Checker the front strap, remove that blinged out barrel bushing for something less gaudy and a few more things likely as well.

Churchmouse would then get it converted over to 10mm, and have the rollmarks removed :ingo:

That said, even though I am not a 1911 guy, and definitely not a Colt fan, that gun sure does like pretty in that ad, everytime I see it (no purple needed)
