Did the Republican Party do much campaigning for their mayoral candidate? Makes me wonder what is happening to a party that should be riding high here in Indiana.

Marion County has been pretty blue for a long time. Even with a Republican mayor it seems the city council was usually held by a majority of democrats.

Looks like Virginia has continued its trend of electing outstanding candidates. They have just elected Joe Morrissey to their state senate. For those of you unfamiliar with his stellar history: https://wtvr.com/2014/12/12/joseph-morrissey-alford-plea/

"HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Virginia State Delegate Joe Morrissey (D - Henrico) will serve six months in jail after he entered an Alford plea in Henrico Court on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. By entering an Alford plea, Morrissey did not admit he broke the law, but did admit there was enough evidence to convict him.

The plea came days before Morrissey was to go on trial on charges of taking indecent liberties with a minor and possession of child pornography. The charges stemmed from allegations Morrissey was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old member of his legal staff."

So Virginia has a governor who can't remember if he was in blackface or a Klan outfit, and who wants to forget his rather offensive nickname, a lieutenant governor accused of sexual assault, an attorney general also wearing blackface, and now a state senator who plead out because there was enough evidence to convict him of possessing kiddie porn and taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Well, “Virginia is for Lovers” it so the ad campaign said.

Even Trump couldn't save Kentucky. Get used to it. And icing on the cake, Juli Briskman wins in VA. lmao

Sean Trende, writing analysis for RCP. If you don't recognize those names it won't surprise me. But please, do become overconfident

Finally, we should note that Republicans handily captured every other statewide office in Kentucky, and won the attorney general’s office for the first time since the 1940s. This would not seem to suggest that there is a major realignment in the Bluegrass State; if the rest of the GOP slate had gone down to defeat, or even been held to tight races, it might be a different story.

Even in Virginia, Democrats were helped by a court decision invalidating a number of House districts in the Tidewater area.

Libertarian Party says it's happy to cause 'delicious tears from Bevin supporters'

    ...Libertarian Party of Kentucky

    November 5 at 6:40 PM ·

In an ideal world, we elect Libertarian candidates and advance liberty. Failing that, we push mainstream candidates towards liberty to advance the cause.

But if we can’t do those things, we are always happy to split the vote in a way that causes delicious tears. Tonight there are plenty of delicious tears from Bevin supporters.

Had Matt Bevin not ditched his liberty Lt Governor for a Mitch McConnell picked anti liberty, corrupt running mate who has tried to eliminate Kentuckians jury trial rights, had Matt Bevin not presided over a huge sales tax increase, had Matt Bevin supported any of our key issues on criminal justice reform, marijuana legalization, expanded gaming, cutting taxes, or acted with the least bit of civility, we probably would not have run a candidate. Of course, he did the opposite. And here we are.

We split the vote. And we could not be more thrilled. If our friends in the major parties do not want this to happen again, they should think about passing ranked choice voting. And supporting our issues.

In the meantime, thank you to John Hicks, Ann Cormican, Kyle Hugenberg, Josh Gilpin and Kyle Sweeney for running. Your effort was appreciated.

For the Bevin supporters, your tears are delicious...

Good luck on the sales tax not increasing again and as far as cutting taxes generally... LOL
