I agree 100%.Good time to barter... inflated price gun for inflated price ammo... ask me how I know.
Spoiler alert:
NIB gun for my favorite green tip. Worked out "equal" using old prices or new prices... win-win.
Price gouging is controlling the supply so you can set whatever price you want.
Price gouging is NOT “it costs more than I want to pay.” I swear some of you all are closet socialists when it affects something YOU care about.
As long as the playing field is level then no price is “gouging.”
Let’s be clear... I’m referring to the intentional price gouging.
And waiting is a dice roll.I saw a couple like that in classifieds recently. They beat the most expensive shop by $100. Guns are sitting on the shelf in this shop because they are $100 or more above prices that people will pay even with lack of supply. Would have bought, but not at $100 more than new and with extra driving involved. Figured I would wait for the inevitable price drop.
So you did exactly the same thing you are preaching about...........I did list a shotgun. As far as the price, I google the gun, make and model. Compared prices of guns in stock, which there weren’t. Referred to gunbroker and other sites that had bids on them for over $950.
I sold the gun for well below what it could be obtained for.
My point isn’t raising prices do to supply and demand. It’s a current manufactured gun being marked way above value when it can still me obtained I guess. Midwest Gun Exchange has a ton of guns the last time I was there at still decent pricing. I don’t hate the comments I posted for the response and debate.
Maybe, just picked up a new Glock for $425. Looking for one more (different caliber) and then I'll probably go back to looking at/buying rifles and muzzle loaders. And waiting is a dice roll.
Soooooo many people post up looking for options and opinions. Then when they find out what the current market is doing or no one "Gives" them the gun of their dreams you never see or hear from them again.....Maybe, just picked up a new Glock for $425. Looking for one more (different caliber) and then I'll probably go back to looking at/buying rifles and muzzle loaders.

When in stock, $330 at Rural King.
When none to be found and demand is high, apparently, $800+.
What's it worth? Whatever a buyer and seller agree to...
As long as someone's not buying up the available supply just to sell/scalp at an inflated price *shrugs*

The only thing that twists up my tighty whitey's about this entire thing is the people who only come out of the wood work to make a buck. You never see them any other time. Just like the people that only post in the Political sub-forum when the heat is on and arguments are the norm. Those people irritate the mouse.
Put your price on it. Its your. Not mine but if you look the high priced stuff is just sitting right now because yes if you get up off your buns and go out looking you might just stumble onto some on the shelf. AR's and ammo are out there.
I stopped in at a friends gun store yesterday and again today. They have a lot of hanguns for sale in the display case. Are the prices a bit high.....depends on who you are. 500 guns. They have ammo to sell with the purchase of a gun.
I was standing at the end of the counter when 2 young men came in and wanted..."Boolitz"
Owner said the sign on the door said ammo only with a gun purchase. They got crappy and demanded. People. Idiots abound.
If you are a 1st time buyer and are panicking this has all been in the wind for several years now and here we are. Yes, you will pay more and that is the way of it. If you luck out and get that coveted piece of Tupperware on line or the entry level AR at RK then congrates.
If in all of this you do not like the prices......as has been mentioned....walk away or pony up. Its your call.
No one laughs any harder than I do when I see some of the insane prices in the classies. Look those people up and you tell me.....
Part of it is, new guys don't know prices and many don't know about transfers.
Panic buying fueled by fear at ignorant prices.
Thanks, but Kozaturf did the detective work... I just tugged on the thread.Good call. Someone who sold a gun here for almost 3 times it's worth is bitching about price gouging. What a fricking joke.
Thanks for keeping it simple. Math is hard....Here's my comment on gun shop pricing.
A gun shop has overhead. Mortgage or rent probably, utilities, employee wages, taxes, massive liabilty insurance, administrative supplies, building maintenance, landscaping, security, etc.
Let's use small numbers here to make the point. Suppose the gun shop needs to make $100 per month to break even, and anything over that is profit that can be used to grow the business and increase product lines and services.
When they can get a hundred Grock 9mm a month for $50 each, and sell them all at $60, each, no problem. $10 profit per, $1000 profit per month. Good times. Lights are on, and everyone's getting paid. They're making money.
But when Grock cant move them out of the factory fast enough to meet demand, and the gun shop can only get 5 Grocks a month, obviously they need to raise prices to be able to meet their expenses. $60 retail goes to $80 retail, just to keep the doors open and not become a money hole. No profit, just keeping the doors open. A $100 price yields a profit, and keeps the owner engaged in the business, but people start pissing and moaning all over the internet about the "price gouging".
