I love the system Meijer has. For grocery shopping or any shopping. You put a app on your phone. (I know I know) Then you scan and bag your groceries as you shop. Then when you are done you go to the you scan register scan a bar code and it downloads all the items in your cart.swipe your card and go. No unloading cart and bagging.
Everything is already based by you.

Haven't used a cashier line in over a year unless there was no choice. I can get done faster, don't have to listen to spiel for credit cards or additional warranty or loyalty programs, and nobody for The Boss to distract.
Also I have to wonder why Home Despot even bothers calling them self checkouts, seems every time I go in there the overseer or what ever they call the person working the self checks jumps in and does it all anyway.

Well, you can flirt with them, but they don't listen. Pretty much the same as the human cashiers. :lmfao: But at least they won't call a manager over to report "sexual harassment"!
If they consider it "sexual harassment" you're doing it wrong.

Also sometimes the flirting is mutual and non-creepy.

Well, they didn't necessarily put anyone out of work, but they sure as heck made the cashier monitoring the self serve lanes work their butts off. Pretty sure they'd rather just worry about one lane too.

love them. back when you couldn't find lysol/hand sanitizer/other panic items and they had a one can limit, self checkout lane and as many as you wanted. i am also quicker than the average cashier and my time is worth something. the option is there to do it myself, i will do it.

The problem with self check out at Sam’s is that you cannot pay with cash, only credit or debit cards.
I use the scan and go app at Sam's. Scan stuff as it goes in the cart.. Pay with my Sam's Mastercard saved to the app. SAVES ME 5%! Show my phone to the asset protection employee at the door. And I'm outta there. No fuss, no muss.

What does that have to do with not being able to pay with cash?

You sure showed those minimum wage grocery clerks, didn't ya?
I would like to do this but like you said....:):

I am at the point in my life I realize I will have no influence on what is coming next. I can not slow/stop/change anything any more. It is useless to waste the energy's I could be using elsewhere.

If you're using the self checkout you're working for the store for free.
So I rather use the line with a human cashier who gets to be paid to scan my items.

Also you can't flirt with the self-checkout machine.

Yes you can but it always ignores you. Just ask me, i talk to them all the time but they don't say much!
Get lots of funny looks from the rest of the shopping world as well. Well worth the effort just to see the responses!
