Yep I went to that because masking tape takes to many layers to do what electric tape does with 1I always used two layers of black electrical tape.
Built mine on the kitchen table in short order. YouTube was my friend. Incredibly easy.
My first lower build found me shooting a detent pin into oblivion.
My local shop owner laughed at hearing this and replaced it fo free.
Subsequent builds were done with the parts under a clear "bed-in-bag" bag like you get a sheet/comforter set in.
Any parts that "get away"are captured in the bag where they were easy to retrieve.
Lower assembly is a breeze if you have the correct pictorial or video.
I used a pictorial I found on AR15.com for my first build and it only took about 45 minutes.
Now I've got it down to 15-20 minutes.
I hear personal bubbles are excellent at keeping those kind of parts close. They also work great for social distancing no mask required. My first lower build found me shooting a detent pin into oblivion.

Any gunsmith can assemble an AR with no problem. If you can find one that isn't super busy now days.Too bad you are up there, I was the same way- everyone said 'do it yourself', or 'I did mine' - which was of no help. Because I did not want to. A local shop in Indy, 'SNS', did mine for me.
Call a couple of your local shops, adn I am sure there is at least one guy who knows what he is doing and can take care of it for you.
Sorry to hear that! But on the bright side, putting an AR together might be a good project while you convalesce. Best of luck with the procedure and hope you recover quickly! Thanks for your replies gentleman. it was a big help. however, but, I am afraid to report that on Friday I found out that this Monday I'm going in for a triple bypass. kind of takes me away from my hobby for a while.

If one buys the proper roll pin punch set and a proper set of roll pin starter punches these tasks become very easy.I always used two layers of black electrical tape.
The good news was I did not have to have a triple bypass. the bad news was I had quintuple bypass with 5 arteries replaced. that was on Monday afternoon. the doctor said it was as bad as he's ever seen it. he didn't understand why I had not dropped dead the past sometime during the past 6 months, but I'm all fixed up now and going home today on Thursday
