I think I may have posted that at the same time my family got covid, our church secretary got it too. She was recently retired only a couple of years. She passed away last week from it because she had several comorbidities such as lupus. We had her funeral yesterday and it was beautiful.

While she was in ICU her adult son Josh who has always considered himself an atheist, saw God's healing power early on and confessed to her that he now believes. This was when she rebounded and it looked like she was going to make it. Her husband Ted also had started coming to church after she was miraculously cured of cancer last year. Like, "we see the tumor, and we need to operate because its aggressive and growing like crazy." They got in there 2 weeks later and it was gone. Nothing to remove. It just up and blew away like a fart in the wind. Her husband Ted had a bad experience in his youth and he never wanted to come to church. But after seeing our love and His healing power, he realized he just had a bad experience and started coming with her to church.

I was REALLY worried her loss would devastate Josh and drive him back away out of spite due to losing his mom like this. Mrs Monkey and I were praying for him nightly.

He spoke at the funeral and it was clear he was wise beyond his years and that this hadnt soured his new relationship with God. I forget what he said, but when he did, my wife and I both shot a look at each other with tears in our eyes. He is still on the right track. Praise Jesus.

He asked the pastor last night at the dinner what he could to to help out. She said we had lots of stuff to move to prep the stage for the Christmas Eve service. So he came by tonight and helped.

Then after he was done helping move, I overheard him asking about being baptized and even possibly joining the church and exactly what was involved and what the difference would be. Just like the Grinch, my heart grew 3 sizes.

A half hour later Ted showed up to help however he could and found out his son had scooped him. :):

People ask why God takes away good people too soon. I am starting to understand he's got bigger plans we just dont understand. She's with him (deservedly) and now we have two new followers that wouldnt be here without her.

So please lift up Ted and Josh in your prayers to help comfort them and guide them along in their new journeys of faith with us.

Well, MacArthur denied the blood was necessary, so...
JMac has been taking a beating these days after some unChristian things came to light. I doubt we'll h eat him say, "I'm sorry".

More and more I'm losing faith in these big Christian organizations that have to much to lose (eg RZIM)

I was talking to an coworker who said he used to go to my Church he left when the pastor sinned.
I said if his faith was in the pastor he should have left but if his faith was in Jesus he should continue to go to Church.
He could not understand what I was talking about. I asked is your faith in Jesus or was your faith in the pastor?

I attend a local Church I do not put my faith in the local Church it is flawed because it is full of flawed people it has a flawed pastor and I am flawed.
My faith is in my Saviour Jesus Christ in whom I will never lose my faith, therefore I will continue to attempt to do what is right throughout my life I am not judging anyone, i am just making a statement of where I place my faith and what keeps me going. OK now go to the bathroom

"Oh, the love that drew Salvation's plan.
Oh, the grace that brought it down to man.
Oh, the mighty gulf that God did span, At Calvary!"

"Mercy there was great and grace was free.
Pardon, there was multiplied to me.
There, my burdened soul found liberty, at Calvary."

In 1980 as a senior in high school I watched the 3 part series called "Jesus of Nazareth". That was the start of my real search, although I grew up in the local small methodist church I only had it in my head. A few weeks later I gave my life to Christ. It literally changed my life and a personal walking and talking relationship came to be. Best thing I ever did, I'm so glad He came into my life. He was there all the time.

I'm not a Methodist and hate to see division...but they are past due for it.
Im a lifelong United Methodist, and I'm mad as hell.

For those that arent aware (apologies if its been covered already. But I gotta vent) TPTB in the US decided that United Methodism is outdated and we need to embrace homosexuality. So its time to allow gay pastors and perform gay weddings. Its already been smacked down once in Annual Conference as a trial balloon. Apparently this idea is a US thing and they are outnumbered by African and Asian churches who are SUPER DUPER conservative. (they follow the bible) So it was voted down.

So our leadership pretty much said, "we are going to embrace homosexuals and shift doctrine. If you dont like it, There's the door. They are setting up The Global Methodist denomination. If you dont like the change you are free to leave. We'll let you take your real property (that they hold in a trust as the ACTUAL owners) but you'll have to continue to pay your 11.5% of your tithes for 2 years after you leave. “ (we assume its because they budgeted x years out for pensions, widow's payments, etc that they need to cover)

So due to covid the vote got postponed again to 2024 since the overseas delegates couldnt come. (they dont have major meetings EVERY year)

    So here is my beef:

Why are WE the ones forced to leave because we want to continue to follow the bible/traditional doctrine*? Why arent THEY, the ones who are unhappy with doctrine, not splitting off and creating a new more liberal/woke church? :xmad: ESPECIALLY since in the global church, they appear to be the minority.

    /rant

In the end, if the African and Asian churches hold their ground, this could go away. But I suspect this will still be pursued into 2026 and later as they act like petulant children and keep harping like the kid nagging Linda trying to wear everyone else down.

*we welcome all. We recognize same sex marriage and allow homosexuals to be members, but just wont perform the actual ceremonies or allow them into the clergy. Our church actually has at least one member who is gay. And she is welcomed with open arms and loved unconditionally.
