I see no slow down in people building/buying AR pistols when we full well KNOW they're about to become felonies to own in any capacity that they're actually usable.

I've avoided them for the last year because I assumed everyone would cave like we (be honest) always do and just take it up the rear.

But I don't see that happening. So many friends and people on here going to town on their new pistol builds when in less than a month 4999 is coming and I can't figure it out.

Do people just not know? Not care because nobody has gotten arrested yet?

Everyone wants to be a keyboard revolutionary and say things like "shall not be infringed" but we're so far past that and I doubt these guys are converting their ARs to all have fun switches because it's legal in their own mind - because it should be.

I'm not going to ask anyone to incriminate themselves by asking what YOU are going to do with yours but what do you think the majority will do when the ruling comes?

For me, it's obvious that this isn't the hill to die on. I'm not losing my rights and going to prison over a few inches of barrel length.

For every "come and take them" I hear I imagine only 1% of are serious about their willingness to go to prison over this line in the sand.

    There are no new laws.

It's another definition change and they're bringing in a 'score sheet' that has an impossible to pass point system.

Click the very first link for the proposal. This is what is coming in August - maybe with changes - but they won't be massive changes more than likely.

Well since shoelaces are machine guns I expect velcro from shoes to become an NFA good as well.

Edit: and while we're on that side discussion I firmly believe rubber bands should be banned from being around AsSaULt WeaPOnZ too because of the bump-stock-ability. I heard online you can use them to fire those AR-16s on FULLY SEMI AUTOMATIC with a rubber band.

So they need to go, asap, ideally yesterdee.

Hum...I wonder if this is what kicked off my odd discussion with my high schooler yesterday. He was telling me there was a new law coming out that would restrict the sale of 'assault style weapons' (whatever that is). His words were 'it's not taking a right away, it's just restricting who can buy/sell them'. So it was education time for this youngster.

We discussed what was being taken away...and then momma pulled out her trusty BOOK and we discussed Amendment II to the US Bill of Rights: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Then he wanted to know if they could pass a law like that then and I answered him "Yes" so we began the civics lesson on who passes laws and what the function of the Judicial Branch of government was actually for. It boiled down to 'yes, bad laws can be passed that violate constitutional rights. The court is there to weigh the constitutionality of those laws and protect the citizen who is covered by the constitution of the United States.' That's how the system is supposed to work. We have NOT done a good job of instilling the values of our legal and binding contract with our nation's government (yes, I'm pointing the finger at myself here. It seems culture is un-teaching my kid what I thought we had carved in stone in his brain).

Down the rabbit hole...We are ultimately a nation governed by laws as per our founding documents. We really, really, really need to get back to the basics of understanding STATES RIGHTS because the last 50 years has been teaching our CULTURE that the Federal Government runs things and that is just an out and out lie. If the States did not explicitly give a right to the Federal Government then the fed cannot legally make a policy/law pertaining to that right. It would be in direct violation of that states right. We are loosing our minds about what is going on at a federal level but the POWER to make a direct change is actually at the state level. If the state says to the fed you cannot rule on that issue b/c we have not given you the authority to do so...then even if the fed puts out a policy/law, it is completely unenforceable at the state level....rant over... :soapbox:

What exactly is a "hill to die on" then...

You forgot to put that in purple.
Does sarcasm that obvious need clarification?

To those calling me ATF - get real. I'd rather flip burgers at McDonald's.

And to the Spiderman scene gif poster - yeah, I am serious.

You're just going to not listen? Cool. I'm happy you have that kind of testicular fortitude.

For those of us without our own range on our own property - I assume most of us want to he able to shoot our guns? Where are you going to take your AR pistols to shoot them?

You think there isn't some Fudd at your range who hates ARs? You'll be in for a rude awakening when the actual atf kicks in your door over a BS "rule" change.

Or you're implying people 'just won't listen' this time? Right. Nobody ever does anything to stand up anymore. We just give and give and give.

Some people are so clueless they think they can still vote their way out of the problems we have. Now that's sad.

I hope you guys don't have dogs that you love.

I've seen better atf screen names.

Tough life though...shredding a constitution one took an oath to protect and defend.
Wait you're saying you've SEEN someone do this?

Did you report them? Extremists have no place in out society.
:shady: This is all starting to glow a little bit.

Oh ya forgot to answer op’s question.

Put a stock on it since it’s already gonna be a felony and free men don’t ask permission in the first place.

Put the purple where you see fit.

It's a personal choice for whoever owns an AR style pistol. Do whatever you feel is best for you and yours.

I have my opinion, and I know what I will do. Unless there is a tac team at my front door ready to kill my dog if I don't turn over my gun(s), then I'm probably just going to keep whatever gun I'm not currently carrying in the safe and not worry about it.

    Fyi - I don't have a dog.

I forgot why I avoid the politics on these kinds of forums.

Everyone's atf, cia, popo, and every question glows in the dark. RIP Terry.

I see a rash of ingo’ers having canoe trips planned.

I hunted for over 10 years as a kid looking for uncle mac’s tommy gun. Begged people who owned metal detectors to loan them to me. Every barn every closet.

Legend has it when they tax stamped them he buried it.
I lost a few firearms in a lake before. It sucks.

The cool thing about indiana though, is private sales are still perfectly legal. And after the last 'rule changes' in April regarding the book keeping changes I don't see a reason to do anything except private sales from now on while I still can.
