I finally got my fiance to shoot a handgun. I convinced her to try out her fathers Jennings J-22 and she loved it... when it worked...

I had her try out her grandfathers walther ppk in .32 acp, and she didn't like it's recoil at all so it looks like 22 was going to be all she would shoot.

We went to the 1500 on sunday and after some looking she fell in love with a taurus pt-22 with pink pearl grips.

We haven't had a chance to fire it yet but I was wondering what all of your opinions are on the gun. I've seen/had 3 taurus revolvers that worked great as well as one of their 1911s that also is awesome, so I figured this pistol ought to be good enough, certainly better than the jennings.

I have to say the slide is pretty hard to rack, I made sure it was lubed good and it didn't help much. I'm hoping it will loosen up some after a few hundred rounds, cause right now she can't really move it.

She's planning on getting her license soon and she's interested in an ankle holster for it; any recommendations for one?

Sorry cant offer any help in the way of a holster, BUT I also own one of these (stainless w/ Wood grips). My girlfriend loves this little thing and shes is pretty accurate with it. Unfortunately I think they all must be pretty stiff in the action, it is hard for her to rack the slide back on mine as well. Either way congrats to you and her, I have pretty much given my lady this gun seeing as how it is usually parked in her purse or waistband.

    Gentlemen!
You have both missed one of the nice features of this design.

You DON'T rack the slide to chamber a round. You push forward the lever on the left side of the gun, just above the magazine release. The barrel then springs up and you put a round in the chamber. You unload the same way and NEVER have to grip that tiny slide and drag it to the rear against the hefty recoil spring.:)
BTW, usually when you pop the barrel up with a round in the chamber, it flings the round out of the gun onto the floor. Restrain the barrel and let it open slowly to avoid this.

My Beretta 950 works the same way except it is single action. Nice design and very reliable, but sometimes my hand will get a little high on the back strap and bleed after firing.

    What he said

Mine is more accurate than I would have ever thought:) I have had a couple of failure to fire, but wrote it off to Federal bulk pack ammo. My son calls it the "noisy cricket" like from Men in Black. small package but pretty loud for a rimfire.

    Enjoy it:ar15:
