A peanut allergy is not a choice or a "lifestyle"! You can't use conversion therapy on him to turn him into a peanut eater!

No, really it's awesome to see you can do that. I wish my ex could have some of that. She has nut and soy allergies and any little bit of egg will just outright kill her on the spot. She can't even get a flu shot because there's some egg based lecithin in it.

All 3 of the terrorists (see avatar) have egg/nut allergy's. The 12 year old is a Celiac. Glutton kills her.

Thanks for checking in! He’s now on maintenance dosing of six peanut M&Ms daily. Simply incredible. He is more relaxed about eating food outside our home and more relaxed at parties and such. So glad we took the time to do it, and proud of him for gutting it out despite the anxiety

    :)

    I'm happy for you guys.
I know it's not going to mean he's going to be ordering a peanut buster parfait at Dairy Queen, but any accidental pieces shouldn't be life threatening now.

    :)

Doc it has been a long time since I skated by in immunology. What does this look like if he takes a hiatus from peanuts? My nephew is a little guy with a but allergy and I'm intrigued for him.

We're at the six month maintenance check. He has been eating six peanut M&Ms about 6.5 days a week. Today they redid a skin test and he was 6mm of a wheal when July 2018 he was 34mm.

He just ate 1.5tsp peanut butter as an equivalency dose and did fine. We can now dose him with a PBJ :rockwoot:

Today my son, now 12, just did a triple dose challenge. he had been on six peanut M&Ms but we switched to half a tablespoon of peanut butter a month ago. equivalent peanut protein dosing.

today he took half a tablespoon every 15 minutes for 3 times. That's the equivalent of 18 peanuts! :rockwoot:

and this for a kid who got hives simply from reaching into a bucket of wrapped candy at Halloween when he was younger. We could not be happier.

Yep. That's great news. I don't really know a lot about it. Or if he can completely eliminate this allergy. But even if he can't completely eliminate it, it could mean the difference between having a severe reaction and no reaction after coming into contact with peanuts. So definitely great news.

4 years later, we talk in the car coming home.

"Oh, i ate two packets of Ritz peanut butter crackers yesterday by mistake but i felt fine"

He got them out of a bag we had for football game snacks for the team. Not supposed to exercise for two hours after his normal dose but ate two bags of these and then went to football.

    So glad we did OIT.

Dang, I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before.
    This is great.

My boy has severe allergy to peanuts, did you seek. Now I feel like we should be checking into this.

I am not sure anyone in Indiana is doing it yet. We go to Children's in Cincy. Sandy durrani is the doc.

I have a friend who took her kid there and has progressed through milk and egg.
