If discrimination is good to go under one job requirement, why not under another?

Well, what job requirement are we talking about? If it's a job requirement then it must be met, either inherently or with reasonable accommodation.

Somewhat lost in these discussions is discrimination is not inherently good or bad. You discriminate on what you put in your mouth. You know that apples are good to put there but horse apples are not, so you discriminate between the two and you do so for a good reason.

Which is why the courts, and society as a whole, have come to agree on bona fide job requirements. You can't discriminate and eliminate all obese people from applying for the job of secretary, but you could for a job that requires the worker to fit in tight spaces, say cave rescues. Discrimination is not the issue, cutting people out of the economy, the market place, and the role that allows them to have in society is the issue, so a reason for discriminatorily doing so is not such a hard ask, is it?

Flip side, and equally wrong: https://www.foxnews.com/us/minnesot...students-complain-images-muhammad-shown-class

Firing someone for not adhering to someone else's religious beliefs in a setting that has no requirement to do so. An Art class is not a religious class, and there is no burden to not offend someone with art. Art often offends, and that's actually the point. The "offended" party should know that a western art class will contain images of natural forms, which is forbidden in traditional Islam (though modern Muslims ignore it by a large majority), the problem isn't a depiction of Mohammed, the problem is depiction of anything that occurs in nature. Yet the professor gets fired? Overreaction, and a stupid one.

The parents pulled their kids from public school and pay out of pocket for private school, in order follow their religious beliefs. ( A principle that our country was founded on.)

Then Michigan officials decide that those kids must endure the same woke indoctrination as kids in public school. It sounds like Michigan state officials have an end goal of "Freedom from religion" not "Freedom of religion". It is only going to get worse in the coming years.

I pulled both of mine out of public school and paid for private. It had nothing to do with religion.

Mother Teresa you guessed it Evil!

    Holy smokes.

Of all the woke nonsense I've ever heard, this has got to be the worst.

Mother Teresa went out on the streets and found the poor and the sick literally lying in their own excrement, with nothing to eat, nothing to shelter them except whatever refuse they found to cover themselves with, many of them being eaten alive by rats because they were too weak to move. Do you really think for an instant that a single one of those poor individuals would have looked at someone who is going to take them inside, feed and clothe them, and at least try to give them some basic human dignity, and gotten mad at them because "Oh, tHey'Re NoT a TraINed aNd vEttEd NuRSe." Re-using needles was the very least of their concerns, they were dealing with absolutely destitute individuals (assuming this is even true, it seems we have only the word of a militantly anti-Christian atheist on this.) Yeah, maybe she wasn't the best with money (shock and horror!) and maybe there were some things that could have been done better, but to call her "evil" because she didn't keep things up to hospital standards (when she's dealing with people coming in who've literally been living on the streets) or because she dared to open her mouth to talk about religion? Good grief, man, that attitude is as sickening as someone who would go up to a man who just pulled someone out of a burning house and start yelling at him that he handle the person he was rescuing too roughly.

Find me a single example of one of the people her order cared for that wasn't 100% grateful for what was done for them. Heck, find me a single example of an atheist organization that motivated half as many people to dedicate their lives to going out on the streets of 3rd world countries and was able to care for poor people while making sure they had everything up to 1st world hygiene standards. I'll wait.

I'm sorry, but anyone who tries to spin this sort of crap is a very sick individual.

    Let me guess, Catholic?

I've known about some of this for years. Meh. My take was she did good overall, but she was no saint. Lots of people throughout history who have benefitted society had some pretty sketch parts of their lives.

    Yes.

I don't take offense at people criticizing Catholic figures. We've had plenty of evil members from the lowest to the highest ranks, including many evil popes. Heck, look at our "president" right now.

If somebody has some criticisms for Mother Teresa, I'm not going to take offense at that, either. But when somebody calls her "evil", I'm going to get a bit ticked off. That video was a preposterous hit piece that took its methods straight from the woke playbook: find somebody who was clearly trying to do good given the constraints of the time period/circumstances they found themselves in, but that person was associated with an institution you hate, so they must be evil, so you take things they did and claim that since those things fell short of the standards you are able to set in your 1st world, modern day comfort, clearly that person must have been evil.

Again, I don't expect anyone to be free from criticism just because they're Catholic, but when somebody decides to attack a woman who obviously did so much good in her life, simply as a result of their anti-Catholic prejudices, you better bet I'm going to call them out on it.

Why not let capitalism sort it all out???? <*snip*>

The same applies to marketing/hiring/firing/etc if there is a sign on a door that says no heterosexual males allowed I would probably be thankful for the warning and be grateful to take my business elsewhere. The market will resolve all these issues and would take away some of the pettiness.

IMHO, that idea probably sounds OK if you are the dominant, power-wielding demographic. It hasn't worked out well historically.

USA is a melting pot. And most places would NOT take a stand on a “side” which would be the best business model. But right now it is acceptable to have “black owned and operated” on a big sign out front or blm or some rainbow stuff but if you put straight pride out front or white owned you’re a bigot? All I am saying is it goes both ways and I think we should let everyone do as they please and let the market take care of things. but That’s just the libertarian in me I suppose.

It’s slowly going to become a very evil time. A time when the masses will get the call to hate Christian’s just like the Nazis hated Jews. And with the same results. The left will hate and accuse the Church of problems and set their teeth upon it. We haven’t seen anything yet, but it’s coming.

Uh, hate to rain on your parade, but you're more than a decade late on that boat.

It's just going to get more overt.
