I know it's a silly idea but the "UAW" overlords have considered themselves above the peon workers for the last 40-50 years. I'm hoping pressure from the membership might cause the overloads to take notice but It's probably a pipe dream.
The only pressure membership has in any union is their willingness to stop paying dues. Leadership only hears the cha ching of the cash register…

I fear that since a lot of vehicles are no longer produced in the US, that the workers will strike themselves clean out of jobs. The big 3 will simply sell vehicles produced outside the US. If you want to get rid of the manufacturing jobs that already have great benefits and pay well, striking is how you do it.

That's how it works. The unions make unreasonable demands, and the companies either go out of business or just move all production overseas. Way to screw over all your own members by putting them out of a job...

What happened with my dad when he worked for butternut bread. He never liked the union, and always voted against strikes. When the company said ether work or we close, the union chose to strike. So the company said well we are closed then and they all lost their jobs.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take . They best settle for a little less if they want jobs to stay in the U.S.

So they strike, lose jobs and make allot of people angry.

Oh, here comes Biden and his team of scammers. They work out a deal, save the workers and get them more for less. They sell the whole package as a win for America. Jobs stay, workers get more for less and unions look like winners.

    More election shenanigans.

They WILL settle for a "little" less. Like it's been for the last 20 years they will come back with a $**TT* contract after being on strike for a couple of weeks BUT there will be a $5000 signing bonus/bribe and enough people will be out of money that they will get the majority to accept it. They haven't had a decent contract since the signing bonus/two tier wage era, all courtesy of the UAW international.

Gov and auto industry i think working together, as a major change/ downsizing is coming. The unions only worried about protecting their tier 1 folks. And most of them about to retire

Myself, I never would have taken a job working for one of the big three with being a company employee and working under a Union Contract.
I worked for The International Union of Elevator Constructors and was an Assocate for what ever company hired me off the Union Hall bench. The company paid the IUEC my beni's at the end of each weekly pay period.
This strike has been in the works for awhile now.

At least the UAW "saved" the hourly GM pensions when Geithner hosed the salaried.
    IMHO that was all preplanned.
Not really. I took a huge dollar reduction in pay per week at over $200.00 / week for work Kokomo Ops never did receive as we would still be in business and you'd still have a job to this day. My "pension" was slashed since we were Delphi and I still got stuck with PBGC. I can't retire as I have back surgeries scheduled (first of many lower back and as soon as Oct 30th) and the second I turn in my walking papers, I have no medical, vision, dental, hearing or death benefit insurance or rights to it so I hang on until forced to do something.
