Tisas 1911 9mm Carry with a Fusion optic plate and Holosun HS407A3. I don't really care about back up irons for a range gun, but after looking at my setup, I could make a rear sight that would work with the factory front sight and give just enough view to make them usable. I've made a few custom sights before, so why not another.
Fusion has two threaded holes already in place with 6-32 threads.
Found a donor piece of steel. Set up in the vise and located my edge.
Cut the end flat. Cut the top to the height I wanted. Then used a 3/8-40 tap (with 3 sides ground down) to cut rear serrations.
Milled out 1/4" pockets for the socket cap screw heads to sit in.
Cut 5/32" holes for the screws to go through.
Cut the center sight notch with the 5/32" end mill.
Put a little dished area on the center notch and lined up to milled the other end off.
Mocked up before final shaping and finishing.
