WVPPS 1st match of the year.

I'd like to thank Coach for letting me know about the match. I had a great time at my first match. Everyone on squad 2 was really supportive and encouraging. Weather was awesome and had a good time meeting a lot of great folks.

      38-40/38 WCF

I've shot quite a few rounds out of my modern 1873 rifle in 38-40 with smokeless (Herco) and black powder. I've loaded 140 grain lead truncated cone bullets and 180 grainers. Getting the crimp just right with smokeless is a little tricky. The neck of the brass is so thin you can crush it with...

WTB: Ruger Vaqueros - caliber 38/40 - prefer set

Looking for a set of 38/40 Vaqueros. I do not mind if it is the more collectable version or a gunsmith conversion. Stainless would be great, but I'm not going to be too picky. I'm not interested in the Buckeye Special Blackhawk.

      My brass is Purple?

Woops! I'm an idiot. Totally stopped reading, apparently anyways. I had something similar happen to some 223 brass with simple green from a short run in a sonic cleaner. Let the sarcasm fly!

      My brass is Purple?

I don't think a sonic cleaner gets hot enough to anneal brass. I'm not a metallurgist, but I would guess the brass is "tarnished" from the simple green.

      LEE Dies Issue

I'd just mark this one down as more experience. The first thing a reloader should do when buying new dies is take them apart and clean them. Thanks for sharing and hopefully others will learn from it as well.

      270 HELP!

Too bad about your computer.. I've not reloaded for the 270, so I'm not going to give advice. This is straight from the Hodgon site. I copied the 120 info for your 115's. Bullet Weight120 GR. BAR XFB 120 GR. BAR XFB Manufacturer Hodgdon Powder H414 Bullet Diameter .277" C.O.L...

Hodgon changed their format on the reloading site

I just realized picked a powder after I selected a caliber. After you choose a caliber go back to "Any" on the very top of the caliber selection and click it. It will open the filter up to search by any of the categories first, or any order you want for that matter. For example I picked 40 grain...

Hodgon changed their format on the reloading site

I've been finding components more and more lately. I don't always find my first choice but it seems like there is usually a replacement.

Hodgon changed their format on the reloading site

Just select powder and then cartridge. It will show all calibers for the powder. You'll only be able to choose one caliber at a time. You can have 4 different data tabs open at one time on the same page. I checked WSF for the same reason, nothing added though.

Hodgon changed their format on the reloading site

Worth a look. It's too early for me to tell if any of their data has changed. I noticed you do not have to choose every "step" before you click get data. You can still compare powders to bullet weight or just powder to different weight bullets. Made me think "oh no!" at first, but it's probably...

Break Barrel Single Shot Rifle Options

I had an old 410 on a SB1 receiver and sent it in to have a 357 and 44 barrel installed. Two barrels and shipping will have me under $280. I can't wait to get it back! I already have ammo and optics ready for them!
