I was hoping I wasn't out of line with my pm's and neg rep directed at a certain person as they are my first being a newbie of 4mnths, but after seeing your post I realized I'm totally in the right. Thanks for reaffirming the good nature of INGO.
No casino money. :( The bulk of her tribe lives in OK. They were "relocated" there in the 1850's. Her family got to stay in Indiana because her Grandpa LaFontaine was the Chief. The OK people were really pissed about that and when he went out there to visit them they poisoned him. He died on the train on his way home. :noway: She and the kids got a little "settlement" money in the 1970's. It amounted to a whopping five cents per acre for the State of Indiana. After dividing it up among the whole Tribe they each got about $1000.00.
The language is being taught in the Reservation Schools in OK and we were given the books to translate English to Miami.
As for cooking, part of her tribe was known as "The White Ones" because they covered themselves in ashes. They ate captured rival Tribe members and White men that pissed them off. I've never asked her to cook any traditional dishes for obvious reasons. :D
As a footnote, when I was hired on the PD the city was reimbursed for my first years wages because I qualified as the Primary Financial Supporter of an American Indian Family. That's one of the few things that the Feds ever did for us. :n00b:
She's a card carrying Miami, as are my children. :)
Three of her Grandfathers were Chiefs. Aquenequa (Little Turtles Dad), Jean Baptiste Richardville, and Francis LaFontaine.
Thank you, and I hope your and your family have a Great Chistmas and a happy new year!
