:wow:Wow is a typical reaction when people learn this for the first time.
The Umarex ties are not usually a concern, since they allow Walther full autonomy with the production of the products they build in Ulm Germany, but I would look more skeptically at products with the Walther name that are...
I am one of three that provides armed security for our church, but there are a few others in the congregation that are known to carry as well.
My choice for carry is the same as my EDC, the S&W M&P40 Compact.

I prefer both.
For slow bullseye style shooting, I much prefer the characteristics of an all metal handgun. For every Day Carry or for fast transition work between targets, I much prefer polymer. My speed between targets is always better with a light polymer-framed gun.
I will never understand why Steyr does not have a separate part number for standard sights. I would have bought one some time ago if they simply had a standard 3-dot or blacked out rear sight option.
They apparently went to the Henry Ford marketing seminar, where they learned the marketing...
If you watch the Paul Harrell comparison between .40 S&W and 10mm it can be seen that many manufacturers don't load 10MM any hotter than the same manufacturers .40 S&W. The good news is that the 10mm shooter will feel like a real stud as the handle that ferocious 10mm blaster with such ease. As...
I am a fan of revolver aesthetics from most manufacturers, but I have always gravitated towards Rugers. I think that it is the combination of the subjective good looks, and the objective toughness of their revolvers that appeals to me.
My EDC "Go To" gun is the M&P40 m2.0 Compact.
Over the years my EDC has changed quite a bit, but for at least 4 years now, My M&P40 has be a trusted and constant companion.
For me, the M&P is what I would consider a "Git-`er done" gun.
This is one of the best deals I've ever seen on a full size M&P 2.0. Since these are unissued LE buybacks, they are brand new and come with 3 mags like LE guns usually do. As a bonus, these M&Ps are red dot ready and have tall co-witness sights...
The Shield or the M&P are superior choices. I have carried various Shields and M&Ps since they were first introduced around 2007, and I can honestly say that I have never had issues. M&Ps can often be found under $500 during sales, like the upcoming black Friday sales.

This video from MrGunsngear does a good job of showing a woman's evaluation of what gun works for her. This boils down my own experience with the women in my life, and how they evaluated different firearms to find one that fits them and makes them more comfortable with gun ownership and carry.
For the money, I don't think you can beat the Canik SFx Rival-S.
This video came out some months ago and compared the Rival-S to some other top competition guns.
