      Media/Picture storage options

I did say archival discs. But I would still say the same with even the average staples ones. I have a CD book full of the cheapest of the cheap CD-Rs coming up on 20 years old and they all work fine. You spill liquid on them or leave them exposed to UV all bets are off.

      Media/Picture storage options

Archival CD, DVD, and BR have a much higher “shelf life” than that. Tho they still need to be kept in controlled conditions, much like film (which they’ll last about as long as). Solid state storage is not good for archival. They have the potential of self erasing after time without power, and...

What was/is The “Cheapest” Handgun(s) You Owned?

Good stuff, haha. I couldn’t pass up buying a Hi-Point for $98 tho. Just couldn’t. I really have absolutely no use for it. It’s the most unwieldy gun I have ever shot, but I have shot some rather expensive guns with worse triggers.

What was/is The “Cheapest” Handgun(s) You Owned?

Hi-Point 9mm. I bought it BRAND NEW for $98. I didn’t buy it for any rational reason other than to say “Yeah I got myself a hi pointe”

Your New Silverado is Ready. It's a 4 Banger.

I have the LFX 3.6 High Feature engine in my Nox. Great engine, but it’s been properly maintained. The engines prior had many issues due to being a new ish platform.

      Hello from South Bend!

I'm not dissing Elkhart, I'm just not a fan of driving there haha. I've just spent so much time driving to and from Elkhart. I'm not really a fan of driving around South Bend either. I will be checking out the clubs mentioned tho. I'm looking for a house out in the county with enough land and...

      Hello from South Bend!

Thanks all for the welcome! I live near Kodiak and probably go about once a week. I’ll have to check out Kingbury, I’m not a huge fan of Elkhart.

      Media/Picture storage options

Always keep your nudies air gapped haha. But in seriousness a cloud service, whether personal or 3rd party, is inherently insecure vs never being sent over the wire. There are a few exceptions (e.g. Box Enterprise witch exceeds HIPAA compliance). If you believe it to be sensitive data, access...

      Media/Picture storage options

Skip on on the RAID setup to reduce complexity. You said you didn’t have a desktop and just an Android and Chromebook. Grab a couple 4TB external HDDs and copy files to each. That will give you some redundancy, but I would keep them at different locations. FWIW, Google Photos has unlimited...

      Hello from South Bend!

Howdy! Since you’re from around here and from profile seem quite knowledgeable, are there any outdoor ranges in the area?

I just came across the introductions sub and figured I should introduce myself. Name’s Colin and lived all my life on the south side of South Bend. I’ve been a member for about 2 months and picked up quite a bit of useful information. Thanks everyone!

Goodbye Les Baer purchase hello new Mower

I have a Yard Machines or MTD (can’t remember which off hand, but it’s red and has a 42” deck). It’s just over 14 years old, beat to crap, never maintained but starts every time. Battery is probably 5 years old. It’s well beyond its useful life but I just hook up the jumper cables start it, mow...
