I thought it was relevant too. I wonder if it was because of the video that showed Mandela singing that song? There was a post or two continuing the discussion about his politics and his violence. There was the obligatory post listing all the republicans that had glowing things to say of the man's passing...typical stuff...the video is the only thing I would suspect.

Thanks for the rep. I might have to go back and re-read that thread as I don't remember his comments. I just know he's only once indicated he might be opposed to abortion (and weakly opposed at that, like "not for me and my kids" opposition). But he defends the act, or maybe more precisely the woman's "right" to have one rather militantly. Hard to square the 2.

Thanks for the rep! I would consider writing if I had the time. If all goes as planned, in a couple of years I may be able to devote more time to such pursuits if the republic still exists then.

Thanks! I'm humbly flattered. I've not considered it seriously. I usually get stuck at the point when I ask myself, "Who would want to read what I have to say?" And "Who would want me to say these things in their publication?" That and I haven't the faintest idea how I would go about it, aside from a blog...and then I get back to the "Who would want to read it?"
