      223 50gr Vmax with Win 748

Only chronograph testing with Hornady 50 V-Max in .223 Rem was in a bolt action Remington 600 rifle. Don't have the barrel length available. Cases were Remington, primer RP 7 1/2, Win 748 powder at Hornady manual overall length of 2.240". 26.7 gr. Win 748---2990 fps 27.5-----------------3076...

      Shooters World Powder

Lovex has a reloading guide on-line. https://explosia.cz/app/uploads/2016/11/reloading_Lovex_EN.pdf Shooters World also lists a manual. Reloading data for Clean Shot is identical to AA#2. Some of their other powders says " similar to Accurate Arms #" powder.

300 AAC BLK 150 grain supersonic load

Hornady tenth edition manual says maximum15.9 grains of H110 gives 1800 fps using Hornady cases and Win SR primers at an oal of 2.090" in a S&W AR 16". I'd recommend starting at about 15.0 grains of H110 and working up. I've loaded them with H110 at an overall length of 2.065" loading up to 16.5...

      Bersa owners, any suggestions?

Hornady 90 gr. XTP both factory and reloads shoots best for me in the Bersa Thunder .380 as well as Colt Gov't and Sig 238's. They feed great and are supposed to be a good self defense bullet. Hornady sells the 90 gr. XTP as American Gunner and Critical Defense. I reload them and my best powder...

      Reloading 165gr fmj 40cal

In my Glock 23 with Unique powder, CCI SP primers, and Win cases I get 956 fps with 5.7 grains, 6.0--1008 fps, 6.3--1030 fps, 6.6--1070 fps. I like Unique for 165 FMJ's in the 40 but my favorite powder is Win SF, Winchester Super Field. Seems to be a softer recoiling powder? My oal with the 165...

best 357 mag powder for cold weather

My pick would be Accurate Arms #9. I think Win 296/H110 would do fine in cold weather with magnum primers and good heavy bullet crimps. Accurate Arms data available on-line. Accurate #9 does fine with only a standard primer but a mag primer is used in Accurate Arms #2 Manual data. Their 1st...

      Ammo Storage in Car Trunk

The trunk of a car is supposed to stay cooler than the interior but I still wonder about the temperature swings from nighttime until hot afternoon sun and its effect on ammo long term. I was thinking ammo stored in a Styrofoam container would protect against the hot summer temps in a trunk...

      Powder and primer stockpiling

Stockpiling should be for loaded ammo to last for all your shooting for a few years. Stockpiling components should be just to reload all you'll shoot for the same amount of time. That requires some thought as you don't need multi-thousands of primers if you only have a small amount of powder or...

      6.5 grendel

Have had my 24" Heavy barrel for a couple years now. Some of the negatives would include more than normal magazine issues. Some magazine companies had more feed issues than others. Uses Grendel specific magazines only. Lots of chambering issues with failures to chamber and failures to extract...

300BLK OAL and pressures - discussion

Several 300 BLK shooters load the Hornady 150 FMJ-BT to 2.065" for better reliability feeding from AR magazines. Info I've read since getting into 300 BLK last year is to measure the bullet ogive and mark the spot where it measures .250" diameter and seat the bullet to where the .250" mark on...

45 FMJ RN - OAL vs Powder Charge vs Manual Rec

Only thing I could add is that 45 ACP 230 gr. FMJ bullets all have different nose profiles. Some like Winchester 230 gr. FMJ's have a long and more tapered nose profile while others such as Hornady's have a rounder blunter tip. This different nose profile can effect overall length. I have one...
