Hey all! I was just wondering what the rules were for shooting on your own land in Dearborn county. We have a few acres and I want to put 'em to good use.

All true 1911's are SAO. The DAO Para that the others are referring to is called the LDA(light double-action) and I think that if you are not comfortable with carrying "cocked and locked" that they are a good alternative...until you come around.:D
Don't discount some of the "cheapo" 1911's. I have and carry a 5" Citadel 1911 and it has never malfunctioned in any way.
Personally, I don't want to have to deal with "breaking in" a defensive pistol and that can be the case with some of the bigger names (Kimber and Para come to mind).

I know that the .357 mag and .45 acp are pretty much at the top when it comes to defense against two-legged vermin, at least as far as the experts say, but I have noticed that some ammo companies are putting out personal defense loads in that caliber.
