for my mosin i used a short section of 2" PVC wit a cap on one end. just zip tied it to my bench leg to hold it upright and put the barrel in. filled it with spirits and left it alone for a while

I grew up in speedway. I rember the mall not being 2 bad in the 80's. In the 90's it got bad and since about '05 they have been trying too turn it around. My boss even chairs the Lafayette Square Mall Revitalization Committee(or something like that)
IMO it depends on what you want it for long term. if you want the most value out of it for resale i would consider a full restoration. if you wanna keep it, and shoot or display it then I would just fix the sights and new grip. It would be very hard for me to sell my first gun. just my:twocents:
