      Remington Prepares for Bankruptcy

Terrible management. They buy H&R , scuttle the very successful line of single shots in favor of the Pardner pump shotgun (as if Remy needed another cheap pump gun) then take an iconic name like Marlin and turn it into crap.I suppose for an encore they can buy Beretta and quit making shotguns.

      2400-Hercules vs Alliant

A friend who no longer reloads gave me a third of a drum of Hercules 2400 about 3 years ago. I've used it in all my Keith .357 loads since and using Elmer's original recipe (358429 Lyman mold). Getting ready right now to reload some .357 a bit lighter for my Blackhawk. Up to now I've been...

      What's everyone's rarest old 22 rifle?

Probably my Hamilton Boys Rifle circa 1905 but my Mossberg Model 44 US Property stamped training rifle would be my second most.

Indiana DNR - Why trees are being cut in Yellowwood Forest

We finally admitted to ourselves that we were not really capable, both in knowledge and free time, to run our woods. We then signed on with a forest management company.Yes, it's about $1500 a year but just the first log harvest which was a "cleanup" harvest netted way more than we would have...

Indiana DNR - Why trees are being cut in Yellowwood Forest

I'm guessing there are a lot of younger folks who just because they did not see deer when they were young , assume us "old guys" slaughtered them all. For those "kids" I'll offer this. Deer were for all intent and purpose "extinct" in the early 1900s. Yes it was an old guy who done it but he was...

50 BMG vs deer? Yes, someone did it.

On the positive side it's not legal in Indiana.Somebody probably was thinking ahead putting the 3inch case rule in there.

      Traditional muzzleloader

PO Box 246 Waldron 46182 don't have an actual address but Jim's number is 765-525-6181. Seems he's near an old school.

Thinking of a single action revolver

I like the look of the 4&5/8 inch barrel Blackhawk better than the longer ones.Seems that unlike most film cowboys John Wayne carried a shorter barreled gun.Seems I read once that Yakima Canutt showed Wayne how a real cowboy wore his gun and that he claimed the shorter barrel guns were more...

Thinking of a single action revolver

Well, as usual , things have a funny way of happening. A friend stopped by the shop today and when he heard I was thinking about selling or trading my GP he was interested. Long story short I traded it to him for a Remington 7600 in 30-06, a very "minty" rifle. Anyway, I then stopped by the...

Thinking of a single action revolver

Guys, I romancing the idea of a single action in .357 to go along with my lever guns. May start looking at LGS this week. Gonna see if any of them will trade against my ss GP100 which I have not used in a long time. Maybe it's the kid in me but seems a SA would be nice to go along with my lever...

      Trespassers and truth benders

No, they were on their side of the boundary. I may not like it and common courtesy would say they should be considerate of me but the law says they can do what they want on their side of the line. I've killed a lot of deer out of that stand and over the years and maybe 3 have crossed over but I...

      Trespassers and truth benders

We had this on our place. It's a family owned farm of 100 acres. I'm the only one who hunts it.Our western boundary is another place of about 120 acres . Was owned by an old gentleman who was very nice and we got along great. He told me to retrieve any deer that crossed the line and I could...

If you can check it in on your cell phone and are on private property, no problem. I cannot address any public land rules prohibiting it.

      Black Gun Powder

You might want to do some research on the numerous powder mills that have blown up thru history and some in recent history. This ain't the stuff to "tinker" with

      anyone else process deer?

I see all the time on Craigs List large commercial coolers from store closings etc . With a rack you could probably hang 3 deer even in the smaller units.

      anyone else process deer?

I've thought of an AC unit but wouldn't you have to move the sensor bulb of the AC unit out of the room to fool the AC unit ? The AC will only go down as low as the bulb allows.

      anyone else process deer?

I've always wanted to do that very thing. Seems even when I did work up my own something would come up (warm snap, rain etc) that caused me to butcher before I wanted to. We moved to a new house 2 yrs ago and I now have the space in the garage to hang a deer and butcher. There's room for a...

So.. what are you reloading at the moment??

Not actually reloading at the moment but am prepping some stuff.Dug out all the spent brass I had (.308,9mm,.357,45 Libertarian,.38Special and 7.62x25) and have them in the tumbler right now.My reloading "bench" was a corner of my workbench but yesterday Home Depot had a huge sale on Husky 9...
