I use Carbide for most handgun loading. If possible I size rifle cases as a separate operation so before they go to the progressive I clean them. Never had a problem cleaning loaded ammo with TP.
Thinking about some bullet coatings, Hexagonal Boron Nitride, Tungsten Disulfide, and maybe Moly. Anyone here have experience with these? I've had a little experience with Moly, kind of a mess, any recommendations?
Is it ok for someone out of state to post here, I'm in AZ?
I use a Thumblers Tumbler to clean case lube off brass. After sizing I put the cases in the drum with 10 or 12 feet of Toilet Paper and run it for about an hour. Cases come out very clean. TP is inexpensive, available, and disposable.
I've had good groups with pc 22 bullets through a bolt gun. The only thing I have against them is they are hard to work with being so small. The powder coating is not the problem it's applying the gas checks. I've tried powder coating plane base 22 bullets and it helps but they don't shoot a...
I do and the equipment out lay isn't that much. To load the shells you need a powder measure, hulls, slugs, wads, and a roll crimping tool, and way to turn it. Also the correct data for your load. Check with Ballistic Products they can supply you with everything you need.
As to casting, if you...
I've used the RCBS swaging tool for years also used a CH4-d tool. Both work well. Never used used a Dillon tool maybe it's time I made a change. Did have one problem with the RCBS tool and unsorted brass. Got a case with a very thick web put an "S" curve in the stem assembly. Had a problem with...
The first thing I do is deprime then clean, tumble wet in SS pins. Preform necessary case prep, swage primer pockets, ect. Then lube size and trim with a Dillon Rapid trim. Then clean the lube off loaded rounds with Toilet Paper in a tumbler. I use Lanolin and alcohol and a spray bottle to lube.
I use a tumbler with SS pins if I want the cases cleaned inside and out. If the outside is all that needs cleaning or I need to remove case lube I tumble with Toilet Paper.
I had a batch of 223 mixed headstamp mostly military that needed the primer pockets swaged. I use an RCBS swaging die. Things were going along just fine till I noticed some pocket were swaged and some weren't. Then things went really bad I found a case with a very thick web. Put an "S" curve in...
I try to shoot bullets as close to as cast conditions as possible because your right the more you fool with them the worse they preform. I've done as you have done with 30 cal bullets, and with larger and smaller calibers. Performance is largely due to bullet fit.
As for powder coating and lube...
