      Threading 18.5 inch barrel for chokes

      I have a mossberg 500 with a 28 inch and a 18.5 inch barrel. I hate the length of the 28 so if I had a smith thread the 18.5 for the choke tubes from my long barrel what downsides would there be? I'm assuming a velocity loss and not as long of a sighting plane but isn't that all.
