Issues with dry-firing Ciener 1911 conversion?

Man do I miss those days... even $15 would be awesome; well, I guess $25 would be great too if you could just go buy it whenever like we used to. It sure is in this ol' world... Gander Mountain has been my best bet lately; if you are there 30-45 minutes before they open, then you stand a chance...

Issues with dry-firing Ciener 1911 conversion?

That makes sense... I kind of figured that it would be less than cost effective. I'm guessing for most average shooters, the slide will easily out last their shooting habits anyway. So I think I will just focus on keeping it simple... buy a kit an shoot. That is if I can even find the time to...

Issues with dry-firing Ciener 1911 conversion?

Drail, What do you think of machining a barrel bushing into the slide? If it was done from new, it shouldn't be too hard to keep it concentric. Then it would be steel on steel and should help protect the slide. The only issue I foresee is the steel bushing might add too much weight... And of...

Bright Sights? -- Anyone used this product

I haven't used this particular product, but I have used other glow-in-the-dark paint on my sights. It worked some.... made them higher contrast; more coarse which can be a negative. If you want that stuff to glow, I'm guessing it will require a charge from your light. The stuff I used did at...

      Heizer pocket shotgun

I don't know that I'd even want to shoot that. I guess it would depend on the grip. Probably once, just to do it... most likely not again. ;) Col

      Heizer pocket shotgun

That's crazy! What is it with these little pocket pistols/derringer types? Why do the manufactures think they are worth so much? They don't really offer all that much... and when you get into that price range, you are much better off going with a little revolver/micro sized semi-auto. Just...

      Best carry gun

Man, there is a lot of very good info/advice being given here... The same or better than what you would hear at a seminar/class that cost you money. Listen to these guys, they know their .... :D Col

      Best carry gun

Pick what works best for you... The Glock will most likely always work, even if it doesn't look that great. But, it's a tool; it doesn't need to look good, just work always. The PPQ has had great reviews and is probably going to be more accurate. This is just hearsay as I have no actual trigger...

      22lr Carry Gun?

The skull could be too much for the 22; I have seen hogs hit in the head with a 44 and it ricochet off... I guess for my money I would go for a sure demobilizing hit. Especially if you're that proficient to bet your life on shot placement alone. Place those shots right in the knee caps and run...

      22lr Carry Gun?

10mm would be... it would be no different that carrying any other 1911. The 44 mag though, well... it would sure take a lot of cloths to cover a Desert Eagle; let alone conceal it. :D Col

      22lr Carry Gun?

I have to agree with that.... but I still say a .22 is not a great choice. If you do carry a 22 and ever have to use it... knee caps might be a better choice than face; The knees are very complex and delicate structures and one would have a very hard time pursuing you with out them. Col

I'll take a .45 and not have any doubt that it will stop 'em. Thanks. Col

      22lr Carry Gun?

There are other much better options... :biggun:... lol. But seriously, when it comes to my personal safety and the safety of others, I want the biggest baddest most man-stoppinest round I can pack. If a 22 is all you have available, or all you can handle physically (recoil sensitive, or ease of...

      New 1911! (9mm)

True, to me the recoil isn't as snappy with the .45 as a 9mm. Thinking a 1911 in 22tcm/9mm would be really cool too. Then you have the best of two new worlds. Or a .38 super.... not sure why, but that caliber just intrigues me. Maybe it's the super part. :hehe::cool: Col

GSG Mags in a Ciener 1911 Conversion

Anyone using GSG magazines in a Ciener 1911 conversion, or other aluminum kit without provisions for hold-open-on-empty (i.e. Kimber... have even heard of peening issues with the GSG/SIG models too I guess...)? If so, have you been having any issues with peening in the slide stop notch? Has...
