      Maple Syrup season!

I did my 1st attempt last year, on a very small time scale. 7 or 8 taps, I only collected a few gallons of sap of my own and was given a couple gallons from a friend. I think I boiled down 10-12 gallons of sap for a quart or so of syrup. It was a learning process, I boiled on a homemade, DIY...

      Spring Turkey

There are thousands of acres of Hoosier National forest in Southern IN, most of which have some turkeys calling it home. There are maps available at the forest office (I believe) to show which areas are open to public. I used to hunt state property around Patoka lake and the French Lick area...

      Martinsville club openings

I see my ugly mug in there! I sponsored a buddy that has been wishing to join this morning. Unfortunately his number was not drawn, and he didn't participate in the auction portion.

      Crossbows

To add to my previous reply about CenterPoint: I took my Whisper 380 out of the garage to shoot about a month ago. Noticed one of the limbs beginning to splinter/crack. I emailed their customer service, they were quick to get back to me during business hours. They paid return shipping...

      Crossbows

I got the CenterPoint Whisper 380 (just because a buddy has the Sniper 370 and I wanted to compare) from Dunhams last year. I think I paid around $320 with a $50 mail in rebate. I settled on Victory Decimator bolts after trying Piledrivers and a couple others that didn't group well. I...

Indiana turkey hunters harvested more than 11,000 birds this spring

It was a good year on the place I hunt in Morgan County as well. I saw birds the first day I hunted (2nd weekend of the season) Went back on the last Saturday and I missed my half of a double on 3 nice longbeards. My buddy smoked his, I knocked some feathers off, he was too close!!! 15 yds...

Map of strip pits near Linton and Dugger

Bass lake was stocked with musky in the fall of 1997 I read. They were expected to reach harvestable size (36") back in 2000. So if any of them are reproducing they may still be there. I think reservoir 26 was another one we had luck on.

One of the pits, I can't remember which one, supposedly has some musky stocked into it.

Map of strip pits near Linton and Dugger

I used to fish some of these pits quite a bit. I think it used to be electric motor only. There are not many places to shore fish but a few are available. I think they used to stock rainbow trout in Airline pit. We had some luck in Wampler if I remember correctly. I have some maps with...

      Martinsville Sportsman Conservation Club 2016

Since this is kind of the "official" MSCC thread, i have a question for IndianaRog or anyone else on the board: Is there any chance of the bowling pin matches coming back?? I think they stopped happening because of a lack of interest several years back. It would seem possible that with the...

      Martinsville Sportsman Conservation Club 2016

I was lucky enough to get in several years back. I mailed my application in on Dec 31st and it took a few days to fill up back then. I can say for sure that over the past 5-6 years the number of shooters at the range at any given time has gone up noticeably. It isn't to the point of "crowded"...

      Duck/Goose hunters?

I've been duck/goose hunting for 15 yrs or so. It's a welcome change from deer season. Getting to bs with buddies, drink coffee and eat an egg sammich. Marinated duck breast on the grill makes a great meal and goose meat usually gets made into jerky. Would like to try making breakfast...

      Wanted: My First Crossbow

I've been reading up on the Center Point Sniper 370. Seems to have a lot of good reviews and a lot of crossbow for the money. 370 fps, comes with a cheap-o 4x32 optic and should be less than $300. I'm looking for my first crossbow right now as well, never really shot one before. This looks...

What kind of smoker do I want?

I got the MES 30 on black Friday and am loving it so far. I still have my El cheapo charcoal smoker, but don't need it anymore. With this electric pretty much set it and forget it. I have an A-Maze-ing pellet smoker tray to put in and I get continously smoke for 10-12 hrs. Has enough space...

Trying to decide whether to build or buy an ar15

Following this thread. You guys are helping me answer some questions too. I'm beginning to purchase parts to try my first build, as always this is a great resource. Thanks for the list of everything I'll be needing, that's how little I know about what I need.

      Gun auction on Jan 1st

Last Freije auction I went to the prices were WAY higher than what I'd consider good. That was a couple auctions ago, so maybe last year's had good deals. It's fun to go watch/look but I don't normally plan to buy at auction. From my limited experience it seems that really high end guns go...
