      What is this old pistol?

      A friend has asked me about this pistol and it's way outside my wheelhouse. It has 1760 stamped on the handle and inside when you break it open so I'd guess that's the SN. The gold medallion on the grip has what he thinks are two fancy H letters. My Google-fu doesn't find any images resembling this.

      I'm looking for a standard size (i.e., not Chipmunk, Cricket, etc) bolt action rifle in 22LR that I can use for the rifle merit badge (I'm a counselor). The rifles I have access to are either semi auto or trigger is way too light (must be 3+ pounds). Prefer fully adjustable sights and < $200.
