You're right! Picatinny rails grooves are .206, Mil Std. 1913. What is on the Hi Point are Weaver rails, groove width is .180. Weaver specified sights will mount on picatinny rails but picatinny specified sights will NOT mount on Weaver rails. Both Hi Point and Bushnell advertising seems to...
I learned something.
I bought a Bushnell Incinerate red dot sight for my HiPoint .40 carbine. Description said that it would fit Picatinny rails. No problem, I thought.
It doesn't fit. Evidently picatinny rails are not standard. This scope is labeled AR optics. The cross bolt measured .195...
As to recoil, that is always subjective. I've not shot the LCR yet but I would suggest that your wife try before buy. My insight would mean nothing. I had a Smith 442 and didn't mind the recoil and it was lighter than the LCR but that's just me.
Unless you want a better double action pull...
to keep my Kimber Micro Raptor 9mm company.
I just reviewed a few threads about the LCR 9mm. Quite frankly, the opinions are all over the map. Some sound reasonable, some do not. I'm going to rely on my over 60 years of shooting to form my own opinion.
Two possible problems as I see it...
I finished inletting the barrel of the Boyd's Pro Varmint stock into the Model 10P. It's now free floating. Here is a pic. I think that Savage considered this a scout rifle (Jeff Cooper style) but the scope can't be mounted forward and at close to 9 pounds, the rifle is too heavy. The barrel...
I spent about four hours inletting the barrel of my Savage Model 10P into my Boyd's Pro varmint stock. The stock came inletted for a .750 barrel. The barrel on the 10P was .900 at the stocks foreend.
I got two dowels, a 3/4" and a 1" and used 80 grit garnet sheets (sandpaper would not bend...
I had a session in training with Dave Rose at his range. That was EXACTLY what I was looking for. The Raptor was also EXACTLY the right pick for me.
Dave was excellent. The pointers that he gave me, plus lots of practice, will do the job for me.
I was very impressed with his 'real world'...
Some time ago, I was shooting at the company's furnished range indoor. We got all kinds of novices. I was watching when a fellow employee in my front shot once, then turned toward me and placed his gun on the table facing me. The slide was closed and there was a live round in the chamber of the...
Dean, I've been a member of FWRR for over 65 years. I think that I'm the second oldest member (in age) next to the lawyer. I'm Wayne D.
I was pres for one year back when Jim Hoelle was secretary and Adolph Pence was the oldest then. We held meetings at the National guard Armory in Ft. Wayne...
I have a Savage model P .308 with an 18 inch barrel and have just purchased a Boyds pro varmint laminated wood stock. The action inletting and overall stock work seems good but the barrel is oversized and the stock needs work. I want it free floating not bedded. Any recommendations for gunsmith...
Parkview Medical Center in Ft. Wayne has signs on all offices and centers........No firearms or knives allowed. My doctor has no problem with firearms but he said that Parkview had considerable trouble at their North campus with a belligerent carry person: result a no firearms policy. This is a...
I am really grateful for the comments here. Absolutely right on about us old geezers; we are mostly ignored by those who teach defensive use of a handgun. About the Raptor, I know that I made the right decision on trading for it. I had to wear a light glove for bench rest shooting, the unusual...
Thank you all. I've written down David Rose and will take a look. Right now I practice OODA; Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. There are too many citizens out there who are unaware of their surroundings. For me, and probably others, it's better to dodge a potential bad situation rather then...
Thank you so much for the offer. I'm still in the process of breaking the Kimber in, another hundred rounds or so.
Having had a series70 1911 in the past, this Kimber is comfortable and familiar to shoot. The ambidextrous safety and the three dot Mepro sights does the job for me. BTW, it has a...
old geezers like me.
I've not done research except post this same question to the Armed Citizen' Legal Defense Network, I am a member. They didn't have an answer.
I am 89 years of age. I can't run, I can't stoop, I can't engage in any of the hot shot competition style classes. It seems to...
