      Question for Coyote hunters

Gonna warn you about that. I thought the same thing 'should be a piece of cake to find some land to hunt coyotes on'. It's been amazingly frustrating trying to find a consistent piece of land to hunt. Called/contacted almost everyone I know at church, friends, friends of friends, etc. Things...

      Working public land for deer

      Working public land for deer

I'm tired of begging for land to hunt deer on, but even more tired of whining about it. So off to the nearest parcel of public land for me. As a new hunter, I've never hunted public land. What should I expect? If I call up the State forest office I'm headed too, will they tell me if a...

Looking for a place to deer hunt

Good idea. Got my first coyote a few winters back, it's fun but tough hunting.

Looking for a place to deer hunt

Good luck friend. I've been looking for 3 years with very limited success. Family, distant family, friends, friends of friends, church, you name it and I've begged and pleaded for access to hunt. I even printed out liability release forms, and the new ruling on landowner liability laws in...

      Deer Butchering

Me too (eye dominance thing). I've been just gutting it out shooting right handed. You think I ought to switch to lefty? Have you noticed an improvement?

      Was I too subtle? :)

      Coyote Hunting

Unless you're keeping the hide, 30-06 is just fine. I use a .223, and it works just as well. :) Finding spots is getting harder and harder, fyi. If you don't know anyone with land, it's a nightmare trying to get permission to hunt coyotes in central Indiana. I guess I kind of understand...

      Coyotes in the cold

I have - there is a large (18+) herd of deer at Crown hill cemetary, and I've seen 2 or 3 coyotes in their fields too. We're talking less than 10 minutes from the circle.

Questions about Coyotes. Several near my house!

+1 - Thats actually a really good idea. I listen to the predator hunting talkcast on itunes and they had this entire show with this guy from Indiana who hunts coyote with air rifles.

Need help picking out a fire pit for the patio

femurphy - that sounds great, I'd be interested to hear more about it. I've got a real small wood burner sitting on my patio. It's been great, its rusting a bit, but its just so small. Thanks in advance for the info!

Using Obama to Justify Gun Buy??

I partly used it to justify my license. Who knows what's going to happen. Might as well get grandfathered in with a lifetime license now.

Question about letting another adult borrow a shotgun. opinion and laws.

[ed. ack- sorry, didn't see that you made the good decision to say no before I posted. Good call!] Yes. It's a terrible idea. Sounds like the news headlines - 'woman takes gun to halloween party, 2 injured, 1 dead.' Shotguns are for shooting things. I always tell my 6 year old, if you have...

Ever had a horrible/embarrassing moment at the 1500?

No worries. Thats the first I've ever heard of that, I've used this handle for years. Thanks for the heads up.

      Anybody prepping to leave?

A B.O.B. is generally only used for a less than 72 hour situation. If you've got to bug out in the winter, wow - that's going to be a pain- even more so if you've got family. Like everyone else has said - you've got to have a definite shelter to head to. If you don't I'd definitely stay at...
