I was thinking about what my preferred SHTF pistol (or pistols) would be. My thinking has evolved over time, but here's where I'm at now.
For EDC under normal conditions that I have experienced my whole life, I carry the G26. 9mm defensive rounds are effective from my research and offer...
I've seen new Gen 4 Glock 19s listed at my LGS for $600. I see them on Gander Mtn. online for $700. Cheaper than Dirt for $550.
Used Glocks seem to be going anywhere from $475-$550 or so, depending on sights and extras.
I can get a new stock Gen 4 Glock after shipping, tax, and FFL for $580...
So i recently went to dollar tree, one of the better and still $1 for everything stores. And i was looking around and seeing all the potential preps. Such as -
100 Bandages in a box for $1
Rubbing alcohol/Hydrogen peroxide in a large bottle
Knock off neosporin
Bulk razors - 10 for $1
Bulk...
I purchased this generator a couple years ago and only used it for 8 hours last year (other than periodically starting it every few months to run for 5 minutes to exercise it). Always treated gas.
No issues. Works like new. (just dusty for sitting in garage).
Runs on gasoline.
$500 cash...
I've owned and sold many rifles over the years- I've got a little windfall coming soon ($3000) and I plan to buy my "SHTF rifle" and scope. I have my own ideas, but I am interested in what everybody else whould choose as their one-and-only SHTF rifle? Please be more specific than "AR 15" or...
So I watched a few episodes of Doomsday Preppers last night and noticed that people were getting prepared for different things. There were people preparing for a virus that would spread rapidly, the Yellowstone Super volcano, and nuclear attacks.
If you guys believe something will happen in...
So the covered bridge festival has started and the old man decided I needed a new safe. It is not a safe of great security (keyed, not a combination, and small in size), but it is fire safe. Besides important documents, what's some ideas of things to keep in my safe for SHTF? Size is not...
Since it is the EOTWAWKI, I am trying to see what I can get for what very well could be the last package of bacon known to man. I'm wondering what you would be willing to trade or pay me for it.
I value this as a priceless treasure, so no lowballing. How badass would it be to say "I have...
I know this is a very subjective question, but for Zombiegeddon/SHTF purposes, what do you consider to be "enough" ammo. I know, there's really no such thing, but practically speaking there has to be a limit. At what point would you feel comfortable saying, "I have enough for emergency purposes?"
I'll be honest, I don't keep track of current events, didn't know much about the whole Occupy movement until today..... and at first glance I agree with it. What concerns me is this is just the kind of thing that could spark a nationwide, if not global SHTF situation....
What are your...
Today's Woot® : One Day, One Deal sale has 24 4" assorted glow sticks for 2.99 + 5 dollars for shipping. You can purchase up to three packs bringing your total of glow sticks to 72 for $13.99. Seems like a good deal!
So I have several firearms, with magazines, assorted small parts, parts from those handguards I replaced, assorted bipods and grips, threaded barrel adapters and nuts, manuals, holsters, slings, sling adapters, etc.
I have not yet come up with an effective means of organizing all this stuff...
Has anyone built, bought, own, and/or used a solar water distiller?
If yes, where did you get it?
How did you build it?
How well did it work?
What did you store the distilled water in?
Any other info?
Thanks.
This kind of puts things into perspective, for all my fellow market "bears" out there. People tear each other apart over Christmas gifts, just imagine how they would act in a crisis.

Bubba alert! :):
Just wrapped up my Zombie Rifle build. Nothing fancy, nickle and dime build. Just built it for some fun and possible SHTF scenarios. :D
I saw some clean AK-74's at a local shop for $399 that peaked my interest. The 5.45x39 ammo is running 5 cents a round cheaper than 7.62x39 for an AK. I'd like some opinions on the rifle, especially from folks who have both AK-47s and AK-74s. I hate to add another caliber to the arsenal, but...
