    I got lost.

If my wife sticks a gun in the face of a thug who is threatening her or our daughter, the media won't ignore it. And he won't be running away. Because there will be thug brains all over the place. And messy smelly thug brains can't be ignored for more than a few hours. Less, in the summer heat.

I'm not sure of the point she was trying to make with that statement or the Adobe bell tower with the cross?

I'm certain it was all carefully orchestrated to support her agenda.

But the imagery and the gritted teeth delivery didn't work for me.

Sure about that? Ask BBI, VUPDBlue, et al how many shootings are ignored by the media. Unless its sensational, if it gets any coverage, it will get a blip and be gone. I dont count on the media, ESPECIALLY anti gun publications like IndyStar to give something that puts a positive spin on gun owners any legs at all. (outside of a buried mention once)

If you're in the business of selling news, on a certain level, can you blame them? As an example, an hour or so ago, I posted this thread. And not a single comment yet. Is that because it's just another domestic disturbance gone bad story?

Sometimes you just have to cross post to get any notice.

    Heh!

But still only a handful of comments. I guess unless it involves somebody shooting their junk or some cop going off the deep end, we really help to shape what the media decides to cover more than we realize.

But really, the "junk" thread is mostly joking comments about getting yer, um, junk shot off. The story you posted, there's just not much room for that kind of conversation. Not much I can say about it except it's a sad thing that should be avoidable but somehow isn't avoided.

ETA: In this age of social media and immediate feedback, I'm not sure which ways we drive media will get any better.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining just making amatuer sociology observations. Comments will typically go in random directions depending on the posters, their relationships, how late at night it is, how drunk everybody is, and even sometimes based on the subject matter of the OP. :D

I can't disagree. People are uncomfortable talking about some tragedies but become activist about others. I think social media like Facebook and Twitter is probably worse for society over all. It sure has turned us (collectively) into a disrespectful bunch of whining pussies.

I tend to follow twitchy...seems his account has come up a few times making threats like this. I can't figure out why twitter keeps him on.
Seems like he has past form. I did like how transparent his excuses were, the "it's satire" follows the "it isn't porn, it's art" argument. I would love to see the media take this as part of the War on Women just for the sake of consistency.
