I think my master clutch and/or slave is bad. When I press the clutch pedal it works fine, but after a few seconds the pedal starts to get soft and the clutch starts to grip and move the truck, it "fades in"
If I let up and wait a few seconds the presssure comes back I can do the same thing again.
    I think it's by-passing a seal somewhere.

Anyway, I'm debating doing the work myself, but think was told that the transmission may have to be dropped in order to replace the slave cylinder. Does anyone know it this is true? It's a 2003 Dodge ram 3500 dually with the cummins/6 spd. If the transmission needs drop, I'm just going to bring it in.

From what I can tell, regardless of whether you have a 2WD or 4WD truck, it looks like warranty time on the job is 1.4 hours, so I doubt you have to drop the transmission to change it. Don't think that by my saying that if you do it yourself it will only take that long, it will likely take a good 2.5-3 hours to complete the job, if not longer. Warranty pay labor schedules are horrible in most cases, unless you have done the job a few times and know how to do it quickly.

Looks like Chrysler/Dodge sells a complete hydraulic assembly that includes the master cylinder, slave cylinder, and hydraulic lines. (Part number 52110495AC)

It's 4wd. I do know it does all come in one piece. It's already bleed and ready to use, from what I've been told. Also can't get it from anybody, but the dealer or at least around here I can't
