+100 Avon police

Took my wife's car to get gas this evening. Pull up to the other side of a the pump that the LEO was at. I got out of the car OC'ing my G19 and the following conversation took place.

LEO:"good afternoon"
me: "good afternoon"
LEO: "Do you have your carry license?"
me: "yes"
Leo: "good."
Me: "why are you wearing a yellow uniform?"
leo: "all bicycle officers are issued yellow shirts for higher visibility."
Me: "Seems smart have a good day."
leo: "you too."

At that point the car was full. I got my receipt got back in the car and left.

I went through the Avon PD's citizens police academy last year. I met many very good officers and learned a lot about how the department works. I suggest you Avon guys or girls check it out next April.

I wondered if any of the departments up here did that program. I went through the Wakulla County Sherrifs Department program about ten years ago. Its a county down in Florida. It was very informative, plus the jail food was very good.

If the bicycle cop is also the K-9 officer, do you think they use a bicycle built for two? Does the dog have the front or back seat? Or does Officer Chompy get his own bike?

What a pointless interaction.

Why bother asking if he's not going to check? If you have it, then he didn't need to ask in the first place. If you don't have it, you're certainly not going to admit it to him.

I'm glad he wasn't a jackboot and didn't stomp your neck into the curb. But I certainly don't think he deserves bonus points for invading your privacy in such a completely pointless way.
