I have questions about a Ruger 1022. I eventually want a tactical look with a suppressor (I know about the Fed permit, tax and all). Can any of the 1022's be modified? Any input will be helpful before I start shopping. Thanks!

    A 10/22 is a 10/22!
If you plan on tinkering with it I suggest you get a standard carbine (cheapest) and build it to how you like.

Regardless of the model, they are all built the same. Granted you can buy ones with better stocks, better barrels but why?

The 10/22 is like the AR-options are plentiful!
Stocks, barrels, internals...as long as you have the $$$$$$$$$$$ sky's the limit.

I have one that I recently modified. It is just a simple 10/22 carbine with a wood stock, but, the trigger was horrible. Removed the trigger group and added Volquartsen stainless steel hammer, new sear and disconnector, springs, and auto bolt release. Also put in extended mag release. Now the trigger breaks at 3-3 1/2 lbs. Next, took off the factory pre-warning barrel and purchased a new take off barrel on GB for $35.00, lathe cut it to 18 1/4" (cuts off front sight) and threaded to 1/2x28x.40, re-crowned and added thread protector. Final mod was to add a titanium v-block to prevent barrel droop when using scope. Everything then went on a Tapco intrafuse stock and am waiting arrival of stamp for suppressor. All total, I have less than $400 in it and that includes the gun (suppressor and stamp extra). It was pretty accurate before the mods (except for trigger creep), but have not had the time for the range since the changes. Is it anything special? Only to me as it is my mod and I am pleased with the results. Granted, not everyone will have access to a metal lathe, but threaded bull barrels can be had on GB for less than $200. Like was said above, get a used one and have at it!
