buy the 20 then buy a .40 barrell have both

    This is truth!

I LOVE my 20. I haven't yet gotten a .40s&w barrel since it's only been recently that I've owned a .40 (Walther PPS), but I will be doing so soon (and a lighter spring)

I am contemplating adding a G27 to my stable, but if I were only doing 1 I'd choose the G20 hands down.

I have a Glock 19 that carry when I am not here in Iraq. (army) I was thinking about either getting a Glock 23(.40S&W) or a Glock 20(10mm). I am not worried about the concealment at all. :patriot:

That's like asking 22 short or 22 lr, 38 or 357 mag, 44 special or 44 mag, 40 short and weak or 10mm mag.

Why do that? Just download the 10 to .40 specs. That used to be the carry load for the 10mm, before the dirty .40 all but killed it :xmad: (Only half kidding about the dirty .40 part, I sometimes wonder if my mild dislike for the .40 comes from the fate of the 10mm.) I loved the 10mm, and the versatility it offered. The mid-range load for defensive carry, with the option for full power rounds when that was desirable.

I have the same prejudice against the .40.

The main reason I can see is that you can get .40 brass practically for free, 10mm brass is much harder to come by.

Most of my practice 10mm loads only push the 180gr bullets I use for both 10mm and .40 about a hundred fps faster than my loads for the PPS (barrel length making up about half that difference), but I get folks giving me .40 brass.

I personally don't like the feel of Glocks but carry .40 and think it's a very nice cartridge for a compact carry gun ,but if size or recoil was not an issue I would go for the 10mm ,I have a friend that has one and loves it.

I have both the .40 and the 10mm but if I had to choose just 1 it would be the 10mm. If you go with the 10 you might want to start thinking about getting into rolling your own because as others have stated ammo avaliability is the 10's only down fall.
