    Meh! We were still doing that when I graduated in '77 and undoubtedly for at least a few more years after that before the aliens crop dusted our atmosphere with their version of agent orange.

    '87 we were still doing it
    Taking old guns into shop class to refinish stocks, or bringing them in while building a gun rack to make sure they fit.
    Everyone carried a pocket knife, most of us chewed tobacco during school also

    Yep, one of the early 10/22's rode in the back window gun rack of my F150 to school everyday. Class of '79...

    Parents and schools used discipline and corporal punishment effectively back then. Strangely there were no school shootings or even threats of it.
