I went Sunday from 9-11:30 with a friend. When in their we heard over the pa some (f!@king idoit) tried to steal a handgun from a table. I saw at least 10-12 police officers in uniform thats not all was their some where undercover and off duty. I hope the idiot does some time for this crime that he did not get by with.

Missed that fiasco by a couple hours I guess. Even though it was the small show we had a pretty good time. Picked up the usual couple mags, a little ammo and some targets. Looking forward to October.

I have it on good authority that some idiot DID actually steal a gun from a table. It was a vintage S&W, but I don't know the exact model.

Saturday I went to the show, first time actually, it seemed small.
I seen that most of the sales tables had strings through the trigger guards on all the handguns that were laying out.
There always has to be some idiot that messes everything up for the respectful gun enthusiast.

I went Sat. morning and sayed till about 11 o'clock. Had my Glock's trigger smoothed out by the Glock Doc, much better now! Bought some .40 S&W and some primers from the BRASS KINGS! Great guys and best price at the show! If they keep coming to the 1500, thats who I will go to! Had a good time!

The booth behind the Appleseed table had a $300 muzzleloader walk off. Now I can see how a pistol could get slipped out, but a 5' rifle?

I can see in the winter time when everyone can wear a heavy coat that it would be easy to walk out with a handgun, but a smoke pole??? In summer clothing it would be a little tougher, but evidently not impossible. Someone has big brass between his legs.

I wonder if that one wasn't misplaced and/or sold (and then forgotten about). I can see a handgun going out... but a rifle... that's pretty hard, unless they went out a vendor exit when no one was standing guard.

Why wouldn't it be easy to walk off with a long arm?

How many other people are walking around the show with rifles/shotguns slung over their shoulder? Either recent purchases, hoping to trade, hoping to sell, etc etc etc...

Just grab one and go. No one will pay you a second glance.

The way to remedy this is to have folks declare, and keep the declarations page, how many firearms they enter the building with.

Then, upon leaving, they must show that their total going out matches the number shown on receipts.

Metal-detection wands get waved at everyone leaving...so Jim-Bob or Tremaine don't have a heisted something-er-other in their britches.

To walk out of the 1500 with any firearm, especially one you can't stick in your pocket, you would need to find an orange tie-wrap. If you try to walk out of the show with a white tie-wrap, you need a show sticker and sales slip. No tie-wrap and they would ask many questions.

I have to agree, I wonder if the rifle was left in the shop and the owner didn't know it at the time.

Exactly, the only way they could have gotten out the door with it... is either having a strap, or slipping by the door troll in a group of people.

Or they could have been there Saturday afternoon when the door checkers didn't even glance at the two guns we walked out of the door with. (They were tied with the orange straps btw, but one was in a case, without a tie or sticker or receipt showing.)

I walked out with a plastic bag with my tactical flashlight in it Saturday and the guy made me open it and show him no guns were in it!

Yeah around 3pm they never asked me anything. I had my wife's bersa on my waist and a bag with my lower. I was kind of looking around for someone to check me out and it never happened.
