I picked up a Marlin XT 17 today, the one with the adjustable trigger and bull barrel. I also mounted a Tasco 3-9x50 scope on it for now. So far I only have the CCI 17gr game points for it, and that's probably what I'll sight in with. My question is should I zero at 50 yards and then shoot for groups at 100 yards? What kind of bullet drop should I expect at 100, if any at all.

I zeroed my .17 at 100 yds. Very easy to adjust above and below that number with the right optic. Not sure how well your Tasco will work for this.
Bullet drop is not that great below 200 on my gun. Any cross wind at all will shove the round off course.

If its going to be a squirrel rifle sight it in at 50, if its going to be a 100 yards target rifle sight it in at 100. I always try and sight your rifle in as close to the range you think you will use it the most at as I can.

Agree. I had a tasco with a 50 yard mark a s I sighted to that. Then moved to 100 yards and used that. I'll say this, you won't get much drop at 100 yards. Past that you will see a lot of fall.

17hmr's are also notorious for being picky on ammo. Find what works best with your rifle, then only buy that brand. I have a savage and a marlin and they both vary wildly depending on brands with the same grain and bullet type.

My .17 HRM's are probably my favorite rifles right now.

I love this little .17 hmr I have the Savage. I ve nailed 3 woodchucks this year. All head shots from 25 to 50 yards. 2 standing still one was on the move. Much happier with the performance of the .17 over my .22's Rep to DRop for the website..
