1911 function help

Took my STI Spartan apart today to clean it.
When I put it back together i did a function test and the hammer would not always lock back. If I "slingshot" the slide sometimes the hammer goes home, even if it was locked back before.

Someone please chime in here and let me know what I screwed up so I can fix it please!

Define "took it apart". Farther than field strip or what?

I took it down enough to get the hammer out. Some how by sitting in its little box for a month while I played Marine it got rust on the hammer so I took it out and cleaned it off.

Sounds like the hammer hooks arn`t catching the sear?

I watched that video... Man he goes fast haha. I took it back apart and put it back together and it works great. Thanks Jetgirl! Rep inbound.

When I did my initial function check i forgot to check to see if it would half cock (it would not) so i should have known something was wrong.
