1911 mods input

So as some of you know I had AllenM do some work on my Springfield LW Champion Operator. Well I have wanted to bobtail it ever since I held a Dan Wesson at my local Gander Mountain, but I also would like a mag well at the same time. I have found a company Volkmann Precision that does a "Gripwell". I am wondering if any one here has this done to their 1911, and what they think about it?

Have you considered having "Two" 1911's.......

Bob one and magwell the other........Easy peasy.

I've considered it, but I don't think the wife would be particularly happy if I got myself another 1911 before I got her one. I do plan on getting another commander sized one in 9mm though.

I got a Fusion 1911 build (bobbed) in 9mm.
She likes it.

This should do it, not quite as dramatic as a true bobtail but it works very well on my Wilson Professional

You could do this. The grips form the well and it has a arched main spring housing.

Bobtail commander is my favorite 1911. I have done several, the other detail work in the pic should be no problem .
