Personally between those two choices I would prefer a .357 revolver, but that is my prefference. Go with what you really want. Good luck with your decision. :ingo:

My favorite gun is my .357 Magnum revolver. It's nothing special, just a Ruger Security Six. It was my grandfathers, then my fathers, and now it is mine, but it is a very nice shooting gun. I would go .357 Mag all the way! Then get a 1911 next time, problem solved.:patriot:

I would look at what use you have for either one, and go for the one that you dont already have a roll filled. Are you a hunter? 1911s are great, but not a hunting pistol, at least in this state. If you dont hunt, just looking for the next carry gun, find the one that "talks" to you, and take it home, the other one can wait.

;) Since you have a nice auto in .40 cal. Glock 23. i would go for a Ruger .357, barrel length depending on what your gonna do with it. hunt or carry with a 4" you could do both.. but then i'd start savin for the 1911.

I am in a similar situation, and only my other is a Ruger Mark II, and I am really leaning toward. 357 revolver. Held a couple in the local store and I really like the Ruger revolvers with the 4" barrel. The only S&W they had in stock was a larger frame (don, the know which letter). The Ruger fit well in my hand, and was a pretty blued color with inlay grips and was at the right price used.

Super tough decision because once you have one gun... you kind of want the rest of them (and lurking in the handgun and long gun show and tell forums doesn't help).

My .357 is a Ruger SP101 2 1/4" barrel. Recoil is noticeable. However, it seems to be the pocket gun I grab first when going to the woods. I also have a couple of 1911s. One is the truck gun & the other resides in the safe.

I agree with 45fan -- try some out before you make a decision.
