Honestly, both. There have been some private entity situations that, while they aren't technically 1A, they are efforts to shut down speech. While they have a right to do it, I'd still drop those sorts of stories in this thread for discussion. Or SJW thread, since they usually have that angle, as well.
Here's a silly one. Very similar to the "President blocked me on Twitter" fake outrage earlier this year.

I think it comes down to people craving attention... and when you block them, they feel they won't get the attention they want... so they have to turn it into a free speech issue.

Alex Jones’s podcasts are erased by Apple, in latest move against the conspiracy theorist who claimed Sandy Hook was a hoax
Obviously, it's their platform, they can do as they wish... but we can say that over and over... we're still acquiescing to companies deciding what content we should be hearing based on ideology.

Whether you hate Alex Jones is beside the point. Do you love the fact a handful of tech monopolists have the power to simultaneously purge him from the internet?
That's why I see this sort of event as being appropriate for the thread. It's effectively removing someone's voice and impact, using dubious reasoning.
He won't be the last.
"He should create his own platform, then!" Come on now... you know how unreasonable and unrealistic that is. It's a problem because of the tech monopoly. Alternatives get quickly labeled as "hate outlets" and essentially shut down.
When's the last time you heard about voat, the reddit alternative? Or gab, the Twitter alternative?
Logical next happenings: His web hosting service decides to drop him, because everyone else is doing it! Maybe he'll get another gig on Joe Rogan's podcast here soon... that episode (911) was particularly fun to watch.
